Well, that's the thing. You haven't missed anything. Your home reality and this reality are temporally disjunct, or at least they are effectively so, by the mechanisms that bring people here and eventually send them back. If there are things from your home reality that you wish to have, they may even be available in the nostalgia district, assuming you can afford them. Items in that area are the only thing that you cannot get for free.

Then they brought you here. Whenever they send you back (and that could happen at any time), your life will reload from that save. You won't remember anything of this place, and no time will have passed. your life will continue as if you never left.
