[Mrs. Brisby's post is hesitant and shaky at best. She decides not to go with video, to try and keep her composure, but her voice is very obviously wavering. She's trying to be strong, but it's not easy. With Mother's Day having just passed, she's dwelling on a very difficult subject.]

Are there any other mothers, here? Or even fathers, I suppose.

...How are you coping with not seeing your children?

The same way I always have. Here, where my abilities are far more limited, I've found turning that sadness towards helping the community as a whole helps serve as an excellent distraction, though I have to admit it's never the same.

Are they very young?

Yes. They're just children.

I know time has stopped, and that they won't miss me... but I do miss them dearly.

[SIGH] Yeah, I'm not going to sugarcoat it, it's pretty awkward. But only because their father's here, too, and he's both someone I don't even know yet and a raging terror.

Good for you! Any girl who says a man like that is "not that bad" is just so preoccupied with thinking they can "fix" them.

Ugh, I hope I don't end up actually marrying that ogre. Things are complicated as they are, I don't need a husband that's liable to kill me.

Exactly! You're better off finding a good, gentle man. A man who will be there for you.

My husband was a good man. He was very clever, but he never raised his voice or his hand to me or our children.

Well, to tell the truth, I already have a man back home--that's part of what's making this whole future children thing so complicated. And he is a good man!

Yes... it might be a little hard for you to understand, since you're so young, and-- and probably don't have parents either way.

I worry so much, even if I know they'll be okay...

I do! I had my Pounce back home, and she was the best lusus I could ever have, and here Signless said he'd be my dad and he's been looking after me just like one, e-except now he died...[Trying not to burst out crying yet again.]

I know you have to worry so hard about them when you don't have them here with you.

Yes, then I suppose you do understand, then. It's so worrying, when you're the parent, too... worrying that they won't be able to make it without you there for them.
