As surprising as fish overhead, alien tails, and weird curses were at first, the young Fon Master Guardian is nothing if not adaptable. She's figured out this silly little starfish fontech and decided to get down to brass tacks.]

[Luke had been deeply asleep when Anise first arrived, having not gotten any sleep the night before. He'd only heard from Guy that she was here, and he'd been hesitant about finding her. The last time he saw or heard from her was in Asch's head, insulting Luke and acting as if she never wanted to see him again.

Not that he blamed her. But it was because of that that he wasn't sure if hearing from him was good for her right now.

... Still, he can't help it. For as conflicted as he feels about Anise, he still finds this pretty funny. He raises an eyebrow and gives a half smile; of course she'd be after royalty again... Especially since it was revealed that Luke wasn't really a true noble or anything. Just a replica.]

[Guy had told her he wasn't from much further along than he was. Maybe from while they'd been journeying with Asch? Or a little after. Anise isn't quite sure when he cut his hair, she just knows the next time she saw him was in Daath after Natalia and Ion had been taken prisoner and he'd been... different. She'd only finally acknowledged it when she saw him trying so hard at St. Binah to save everyone, but he wasn't exactly the same selfish child they'd first traveled with. He has some way to go still, but at this point Anise can believe that he really is trying to change.

She smiles at him.]

Guy told me you were here. Crazy place, huh?

I know. It still feels like some kind of weird dream, you know? I sure wish we'd all wake up soon...

[He sounds more reserved and quiet than annoyed, really. He's just worried. St. Binah is falling where Luke and Tear are now, and he still feels like he needs to get there and finally save everyone. Staying here makes him nervous. And he can't believe everyone's so calm about being here.]

I know, there's still so much to do at home. Not to mention I don't know how Ion's getting along without me.

[She lets out a small sigh that belies large worries.]

Still, the Colonel said that time is all weird so we'll just have to trust him. We should still try and find a way home, though. There're things we have to do, after all.

[There isn't a great deal of conviction behind those words. Certainly she wants to return home, but, well, there are things she has to do there that she doesn't have to think about here, and if what Jade had said about time was true then it wouldn't be so bad to maybe just... take some time here to regroup before jumping back in head first.]

It's not as scary a job as it is necessary. We don't actually kill people. We guide the souls of those who died to the Meifu. Plus, we deal with... spirits, I suppose, that may harm those who are living.

I was a former Archeradicator back on my homeworld of Alternia, the head of them as a matter of fact. I understand that most here do not know of the titles we use for our military forces, so consider it simply a kind of soldier. I was also an engineer.
