[Wow, Darkleer is actually communicating with the network on a whole for once instead of being a miserable hermit. Must be a special occasion. Does anyone know his wiggling day?]

Now then. Have we all cleansed ourselves of the mess and done whatever strange death rituals foreign species feel the need to do?

[Okay, maybe it is just Darkleer being a coldhearted dick. Eh.]

I believe we should focus on the more important matter here. I have seen discussions scattered throughout the network, but it would be best to have all our thoughts and speculations focused in one place on both the destruction of those so-called faeries and on the recent appearance of that Carol individual.

For those of you who are oblivious and prone to missing the obvious, things are changing in this place. It would be best to be prepared.

[Don't be fooled, he's not doing this to be nice. He's doing what any troll knows to do: looking out for himself and the few he cares about. If that means even faintly working with others, well, he'll learn to deal.]

Since your children in particular seem to be taking this badly, perhaps it would benefit you to know that those things which followed us were nothing more than mere robots. The technology may have been organic in nature, but it was still nothing truly living. No pain, no loss of life.

I have directed the people I thought of to this post. I will be sure to take a look at it again later to see what everyone has come up with.

[Zelos nods distractedly to Zelda as she goes off, opening the new documents and reading them right there as Darkleer waits. It didn't seem possible, but his scowl deepens even further.]

Figures. Doesn't look like the coral's any more of a God than we are. It might have a consciousness though. There's a tree on my world that does. But otherwise, it's like I thought. They're doing the curses on purpose and recording the outcomes, whatever that is. Maybe they cause us to put out some kind of energy? That seems to be what they're after.

[He sighs and mutters under his breath]

Maybe this place isn't all that different from home. Man people'll throw their faith at anything, won't they.

[He blinks and looks dour as a thought occurs]

You don't think they're literally harvesting whatever energy it is we give off because of the curses for their war, do you? That could have been what the fairies were for, then the opposition killed 'em.

As far as I recall, he'd gone and tried to gather information along with the help of several others. They'd manage to pool a scant amount of observations, mostly concerning the coral and the curses.

Though the coral itself seems to be impervious to damage, it seems that there could be a possible connection between them and the fact that we're made to touch it at some point. Touching it restores our energy yet I can't find any medical evidence to support this. Though if we refrain from touching it, it seems we aren't affected by what curse befalls those who have. of course, this last part seems more guesswork than anything.

[ further pause, trying to remember. ]

There also seems to be a set time as to when newcomers arrive. Once a month, it seems, for a number of days and then it stops completely. Coupled with that, there seems to be a case of some falling asleep for extended periods of time without reason.

[Nepeta has her face smooshed up against the device, beaming in excitement and looking as if...she hasn't listened to a word he just said.]

The coral is not entirely impervious to damage, though, is it? There are posts about it splitting in the past. It only seems to be impervious to damage from foreigners.

I have resided in Vatheon a year and two months. I've seen many events come and pass, and more than once have I fallen under a strange coma that keeps you under for strange amounts of time.

Lady Zelda directed me here. Only a few have remained in this place longer than I, and I have already begun working on a history of this place alongside my Lord Motochika.

[A nod. This is serious stuff, and Mitsuhide's expression reflects that.]

[She smiles at him, quite obviously bouncing a little in spite of the fact that she's sitting down, a very different troll from the one who's been moping around Vatheon since she arrived.]

Even those who are new to this place have heard of the Priestess and the doctor. To your knowledge, is there any other native to this place who stands out from the usual population?

There is certainly the Priestess and the Doctor. There was also a fine fellow that called himself a station master. I'm not really sure what happened to him- or if he still resides around here.

Then we must get on to realizing the new individual, Carol. I believe she may be a worry to us.

If there's a way to communicate with it, then I can think of a few individuals who would be familiar with such things. If there are any you know, perhaps we can gather them together and discuss it.

[Darkleer thinks over that suggestion about the war and the faeries' roles in that before he shakes his head.]

If her words can be trusted, than Carol said that they were observation devices. While it's possible that they were there to harvest energy, I highly doubt it. I believe that would be the honor of the coral itself.

[While he won't admit it, seeing her in such a mood is a much better sight to see.]

[But Darkleer doesn't know how to play! Nepeta, don't make this any more of an awkward disaster than it's already going to be.]
