I...I need help.

[ A man can be seen kneeling in the plaza, his clothes rumpled as though he had just been running. His expression is both pained and saddened, but he keeps his voice calm.

He needs to say this.]

Some of you may recognize me as Doctor Riffael Raffit. I am Riff Raffit, but...the man known as Riffael is the one who has been terrorizing people for a month.

I am sorry I could not do anything sooner...if I had-

[All the people who had been hurt by his hands..shared hands, but his nonetheless.]

I know what I am saying might not make sense in full but if it helps, if it is easier: I am the one you've been looking for.

[He pauses, eyes closing a moment.]

I apologize. I don't know if you mean the murders, Riffael, or myself.

Assuming you meant the latter two, Riffael and I share a body, but we are separate personalities. I did not know of him until recently due to events preceding my arrival here.

I..am sorry to say I did not have the strength to override his control until now.

Is that all you have to say? What else can you tell me about the nature of this "split personality?"

All I can say is from a medical perspective. It was caused in youth and, for most of our lives, he has been the dominant personality meaning he had control.

However, the last five years, I have been in control due to telepathic influences but those same telepathic influences had caused him to take over once more.

The only reason I was able to overcome him is because I do not want any more people to come to harm.

How charitable. Now tell me, where exactly does "telepathy" factor in? I'm unfamiliar with the intersections of psychic phenomena and dissociative identity disorder.

A woman with such a power was able to seal away Riffael. She made it so that he had no control over anything and I was able to live as I pleased for those five years. A couple months before my arrival here, she switched our places because she had need of him.

However, he is dangerous and she had hoped to release me enough to make him more easy to control but he killed her after she broke the seal. I've spent the time since then trying to gain enough strength to overthrow him.

This is still strange. Is is even accurate to call your two...selves simply "personalities?" Or is it more the case that you are multiple conscious entities sharing the same actualized, physical body?

'Personalities' is the only way the medical world of my time can understand it and, quite simply, I am a man of my time, I am afraid I do not fully understand it myself; not as much as I would like.

Perhaps what you suggest is more accurate, but I have no way nor any knowledge of a way to prove or disprove it.

Maybe you don't, but I can assure that we're going to need to figure it out. In any case, a public admission of guilt probably was not the best option for your well-being. You should have turned yourself in to the Defense Force directly. Particularly since your involvement with the cases still needs to be verified, but I doubt most of the people who see your broadcast are going to stop and consider that.

My personal well-being is not my concern at present. My only desire is to see this ordeal ended. Any and all repercussions that come of this, I am willing to bear if it stops him.

Be that as it may, those "repercussions" are not necessarily going to have anything to do with satisfying this "ordeal." Particularly if your claims about an alternate personality are as accurate as you say. If you're willing to cooperate, there are certainly better--and less rash--ways to handle this situation.

I am willing to cooperate with any solutions anyone has. I...understand there are those that wish to kill him and that I may die because of this. If they do not believe me that it is not the best course of action, then that is my own failing.

Hardly. But the nature of death in this city keeps that from being a viable solution as well. In fact, that's part of our dilemma. And if there is a just solution to be found, it's certainly not going to be waiting for you in the streets.

What do you recommend I do, then?

Exactly what I said before. Turn yourself in to the Defense Force. Assuming that's still an option, considering your predicament.

It would not surprise me if least one of them was already on their way.

Without a doubt. But that doesn't exactly make yours a sure situation

Not much, at this point. As I was saying before, this certainly was not the ideal way to attempt to resolve your situation. But when you do eventually find yourself in Defense Force custody, you can be sure that the two of us will have words, again.
