[ A man can be seen kneeling in the plaza, his clothes rumpled as though he had just been running. His expression is both pained and saddened, but he keeps his voice calm.

Some of you may recognize me as Doctor Riffael Raffit. I am Riff Raffit, but...the man known as Riffael is the one who has been terrorizing people for a month.

I am sorry I could not do anything sooner...if I had-

[All the people who had been hurt by his hands..shared hands, but his nonetheless.]

[Ky doesn't bother to answer before running to the plaza, to as fast as he can. He's not sure he believes that the man who's been doing all this would turn himself in, but if there's any chance...

Ky doesn't trust that Riff or Riffael, if there's supposed to be a difference there, will stay for long, or that this isn't a trap, but he still has an obligation to be there, an obligation to stop him.

Which is why he shows up at the plaza, one arm bracing the other from when he ran, but he catches his breath quickly.]

[Riff didn't move, as promised, but he did give the man a considering look. The memories were fuzzy and barely coherent as they weren't, strictly, his own, but he could remember this man's face. He knew why Ky's arm was hurt.]

[The voice and the name attached to the message ring bells for him and, although he only has vague, blurry, memories of what had happened, he knew this was one of Riffael's victims.]

[Boredom in recovery was Rinoa's bane right now. Now that her head was clear and the pain was held back by painkillers, she decided to scan over the network and see what she missed.

She drops the communicator in shock when she sees Riff's face. His face. The one burned into her mind, leering down at her.

Unbeknownst to her, the reply mechanism is hit. She simply stares for a long moment, her eyes wide in shock. Unable to say anything, she quickly shuts off her SFC, and tries to fight back the well of fear rising in her.]

[He saw her face and instantly recognized her. While the others the memories were more fuzy and disjointed, Rinoa he remembered almost everything for.

He had been so close, if he had been just a little stronger, he could have helped her more than he'd tried to. As it was, he wasn't entirely certain sabotaging the hallucinogen was helping. Perhaps it was a greater disservice to allow her to remember than not.

He knows there is a likelihood she does not want to speak to him or hear what he has to say, but he will still attempt.

At the very least, she doesn't need to look at him.]

Miss Rinoa. I am so sorry for what was done to you. I...I tried to help you, but I fear I only did more damage than good, and it certainly doesn't outweigh what he did to you.

[Malik sees the admission of guilt over the network. His first thoughts are incredulous. Who would admit openly to such a thing?

He looks at the unfamiliar face on the communicator and replays the message. How could this person do this to Hubert? The excuses seem almost as weak as the person saying them. Someone stop him? Isn't he the him? Why can't he stop himself? What's going on? What he is saying doesn't make much sense and it doesn't help. Is this another of the coral's curses?

Even with such terrible events, there is a satisfaction in knowing that they had meaning, that there was some purpose in the suffering, sacrifices, and death even if this purpose was evil. What is the meaning here? An accident? Some random occurrence?

It does make things easier if he's telling the truth.

Malik thinks to himself on his next course of action as his training helps him set aside the anger and desire to inflict harm upon this person. Surely there would be people rushing to the plaza. Zelda, Serph, the Defense Force, and many others. All of the victims had friends or loved ones. What good would his arrival do?

As he considers his course of action, he responds to the Doctor's message in a flat and controlled tone. His face gives away nothing of his feelings, only the seriousness with which he holds the situation. Malik responds to the man's very first statement.]

[Riff turned his eyes away. He could discern the man's meaning, but he had nothing to say for it. Capture was the only course of action he could think of that would help. Killing him would, likely, just bring Riffael back and there were no telepaths here, to his knowledge.]

[Because they were his hands, whether he had been controlling them or not.
