[The video comes on in a jolt of motion, which stills to a skewed image of pavement, buildings, and a soaking wet teenage boy clad in red and black lying on the ground. He winces as though he'd just hit the ground. Hard.]

Oww...

[Pushing himself up off the ground, he rubs his head.]

Is everyone all...

[Wait. Something's wrong. He looks around the plaza with clearly growing alarm, but still not at the SFC.]

Guys? Where is everyone?

[And where in the world is he?!]

But we don't know that's the case. We won't know if we don't try. I don't think we should give up just because no one's found the way out yet.

[Let him keep talking, Duke. That won't stay just a feeling for long.]

Several have been here for some time.

Everyone's different, though, so some of us who weren't here before might try different things that no one else has ever tried. One of those things might be just what we need.

[He shakes his head.]

[Maybe someone else might have commented on the change of subject, but Lloyd? Nah, bad as he is at staying focused sometimes, he barely even notices. He just goes with it.]

They're a different race from humans. They're pretty short, and most of them live underground. They're really well known for how good they are at mining and blacksmithing and making or customizing things. You don't see them very much, though. I've only met two, and my dad was one of them.

Like Kritya, but performing the jobs that the Soul Smiths. [ A blink and a short moment of concentration. A tiny flicker of magic, but nothing so concentrated to be visible.

Lloyd doesn't quite seem to be half anything that's not human, even if he does feel a bit weird as a human. ]

Huh? Oh. No, Dirk's not my real dad. I don't actually know anything about my real dad, except that he's probably dead. Dirk's my Dad, though, as far as I'm concerned. He's raised me since I was three.

[Lloyd isn't really sensitive to magic at all. The flicker goes completely unnoticed.]

What're Kritya and Soul Smiths?

A guild and another race. Kritya are humanoid, marked out by longer ears, tendencies toward hair colors such as blue or green. [ A pause. ] And antennae.

...that almost sounded like elves up until you said the part about antennae. Man, I guess even the races are different when you live under the ocean, if you don't know about dwarves and I've never heard about Kritya.

[Yup, still thinks this is somewhere on Sylvarant, even if it's in the ocean.]

[ .... Duke was pretty sure that he'd mentioned something about not being where you thought they were.

Thought had said that this was not upon where you thought it was. It is not of Terca Lumireis - where Kritya and Entelexeia are as common as humans, nor is it your Sylvarant.

.... No. It is not Tethe'alla, Terca Lumireis, Sylvarant, nor any other world you think you should be on. It is not of any of the worlds that the others here believe they should be on. It is elsewhere, entirely.

[What? Okay, stop, back up. Let Lloyd's mind have a moment to catch up.]

This is another world? There's more than two?

[Which, well, if there's even two, why not more? But he'd never thought about it before.]

That's amazing. So, wait, Terca Lumeris. That's a different world, too?

[Still not quite getting that name.]

Before arrival here, unaware of anything but potential for multiple worlds. This seems to be of its own, pulling those of many various worlds to it.

[Duke has a slightly odd way of speaking, so Lloyd has to think for a moment, but he thinks he gets what the man is saying.]

Huh. I wonder how many worlds there are...

[Probably not an answer anyone knows.]

I better be careful, then, once I figure out how to go home. I don't want to end up in the wrong world by accident. Who knows? I could end up in yours.

... [ Teen-in-red. He's trying to imagine you wandering around on Terca Lumireis.

[He glances at the guy, then around the area again, still hoping to spot his friends.]

I should probably get going. If any of my friends made it here with me, who knows where they are right now?

[ His world already has a story called "Legend of the Dark Blue Warrior" which is about someone who stood against heaven, and a preteen who shares similar hair style and color. Duke's not quite sure about that. ]

Likely finding locations to dwell - free, simply find a building with rooms you wish to occupy.

[That... Okay, Lloyd's pretty sure he's putting together this guy's words in the wrong order now. Just walk into a place and it's free? That didn't make sense. Yeah, he probably meant something else.

... Assume not, it has not been a topic. There are 'locals', those of this location, and there are all others; off worlders. Those who are called locals are rather cheerful about the others who have come to inhabit this place. [ For a moment he thinks about correcting the teen - he meant that you didn't have to buy most things - but...

[It isn't until well after they've both parted ways that it occurs to him that they never did introduce themselves. He only thinks about that for a moment before he shrugs it off, though. Whatever. He's not about to give his name to a guy who won't tell him his name in return.]
