Apart from the fact the locals treat it as a god and there are indeed proof of its powers. But perhaps that's better witnessed firsthand.

[ And allow him a moment of amusement. ]

I certainly meant no offense... just the thought that you aren't the only death in this city, mind you. There are others, as I've heard.

[It can't be. Father can't leave Death City! Even if whatever force managed to pluck them from their worlds and placed them into this bubble, if it managed to do that to Lord Death...]

[There's a shrewdness to his manner that Kid doesn't particularly care for; he's reminded, somewhat, of the kind of unscrupulous man who cons carnival-goers of their money with rigged games of skill and chance.

This would hardly be the first time the reaper has suspected someone needlessly, however. His chin lifts again, golden eyes narrowing.]

Consider it a welcome to this fair city... or rather, a preventive for any violent reaction.

[ He's still smirking though. ]

[And just like that, Death the Kid takes Faust's word at its face value, but has also the impression that he might have been misled. Anyone could introduce themselves as Death as a title, and some upstarts have, but to be a true reaper...]
