[ So really all this video is is of books falling off a shelf. After they've settled, there is a tiny voice- ]

[ Duke is not wearing clothes in his own size, as the want for clothes that he doesn't keep on with tent-string was greatly diminished by his want to look at books.

Even if they are strange books in a strange barrier-ed place without any knights or sword stairs or palaces or quarters like he'd heard from the cats. ]

... Ir coral a rock or a .. something else. [ He's pretty sure its kinda like a rock. IF not a rock. He's peeking a little more over that book now. ]

Coral is actually a bunch of tiny little plants living together in a cluster. When you take it out of the water it dries up like a rock, but in its natural environment it can have all sorts of textures. The coral here grows all throughout the plaza.

[Plants and animals don't hurt people, Duke. Not unless you handle them incorrectly. It'll be okay.]

... Can I take the book with me?

Of course! This is a library, you can take the books with you as long as you bring them back later. It might even have types of coral listed in there.

[She holds a hand out to him. Zelda's not entirely sure he'll take it, but she'd prefer it. Children get distracted so easily. They need leashes!]

I'll be nice to it. [ Duke protests the idea of a leash. If you turn around you'll find him, sitting to stare at something interesting.

Duke shifts the book and takes the hand. He'll still get distracted, you know. ]

[He may get distracted, but he won't wander off! Zelda leads him out to the plaza, careful to keep at his pace. He may notice the glowing coral before she ever even points it out considering its size.]

Corals are marine animals in class Anthozoa of phylum Cnidaria typically living in compact colonies of many identical individual "polyps". The group includes the important reef builders that inhabit tropical oceans and secrete calcium carbonate to form a hard skeleton. Ah, so I guess they are not a plant after all?

[Interesting. She'd read about the water filtration properties and functions of coral before, but never how they were properly classified... also this book is way above the reading level of a boy his age. Honestly, Duke!]

Also that book is perfect! It has the right mix of pictures, and long words he both does and doesn't know so he feels like he's learning! The glossary helps. ]

[One would think that the fact people theorize that the coral may be sentient would have clued Zelda in to it being an animal, but there are sentient plants on her world, so!]

It's an odd name, isn't it? Regardless, that is what it's called. The locals around here are a bit... absent-minded, so I suppose we shouldn't be too surprised that their naming sense is a little lacking.

That's right. They live here all the time. They're very accommodating. There's a cafe right over there - if you're getting hungry, we could get lunch?

[She's hoping she won't have to cajole him too much.]

[She moves away from the coral a bit, holding her hand out and seeing if he'll come with her. She does have the book at this point, so she's fairly certain he'll follow along.]

Duke takes Zelda's hand and looks a little uncertainly at the cafe. They won't? ]

It's fine. The food here won't hurt you. Do you want me to eat first?

[She orders a sandwich platter and water for both of them. It's a variety platter, so hopefully there will be a combination he likes. Zelda knows that children can be picky.]

... Why is it free?

[ This is going against all that he ~knows about outside~. Gald was needed for food, when you didn't get it from inside your house or garden...

And variety- Duke stares at the sandwiches, and curiously picks up pb&j. ]

The people here have enough, so they don't feel any need to charge. It is very unusual, isn't it?

[Zelda picks up a rather plain looking ham sandwich herself, nibbling at it delicately.]

Perhaps they feel like they're running a charity for people who show up here without any money.

... Oh.

[ He's going to be distracted eating his sandwich now. and maybe debating if it was okay to sneak some of it to the cat that had taken up residence under his seat... ]

[There's no need to sneak, Duke. Zelda's noticed the cat as well, and she knows his habits fairly well. She nudges the tuna sandwich forward, smiling.]

The cat may prefer this one.

[ MINDREADER- Duke blinks at her, then at the cat, as if double checking Zelda's opinion-

And then he's putting his sandwich down so he can feed the cat. ]
