004 - [Accidental Video]

[The video feed opens onto what was once a living room but which at this point is better described as a sty. Discarded food wrappers, game cartridges, and open books litter the floor. If Laharl owned more clothes, there would probably be dirty laundry, too, but thankfully there's just one pair of shoes in there somewhere.

A large television is the primary source of light in the room. Incongruously, a plush rabbit sits atop the TV, looking a little worse for wear.

The center of the room is occupied by an open coffin, where Laharl is sitting cross-legged, a controller in his hands. He looks to be playing an underwater racing game and, of course, growling to himself as he plays.]

Stupid seahorse, get the hell out of my way.

[Laharl looks over at the sound of the voice, and with his attention off the screen, the seahorse takes back the lead. Annoyed, he snatches the SFC.]

[Serph isn't one to judge; while his own living space is rather sparse, there had been times it looked rather... atrocious... He's a little curious, though; he hadn't seen anything like that before. Well, not quite.]

[Serph tilts his head. There seems to be no destroying of enemies, so...]

What is the aim?

[Laharl is about to tell him the point of the game is to beat it, but then he realizes that's not what he's asking.]

You've never raced anyone before?

[Wow rood! But Serph isn't about to deny it.]

Games like this didn't exist in my original world.

Seriously, though. Never mind video games, no one even had the creative spark to see who could run fastest?
