[action/anon text] - Struggles - 020 [Backdated to afternoon of 4/2]

Gnomeday, Gnome Redecan 02, ND 2018

[The first thing Guy noticed upon waking up was how unbelievably sore he was.

The second? The barrier on Zelda's bed was gone. He could easily tell - he'd sprawled out a bit as he started to wake up, mixed up in the covers and the remains of the uniform he had last remembered wearing. He hummed wearily, giving a confused and clouded glance around the room as he propped himself to his elbows.

Had he fallen into a coma again? Guy grimaces, rubbing a crick in the back of his neck. He'd left Zelda here alone like this again, of all times? Damn it. How long had he been out?

Worrying wasn't going to help matters, though. He heaves himself out of bed, stretching his arms above him, straightening his back, and adjusting his clothes enough so that he could wander the house without being too embarrassed coming across another housemate (if they were awake by now.) He pads across the floor with bare feet, descending the staircase about halfway before finally bother to call out.]

"...Zelda? Hey, are you around...?"

----

[It's only after he' had a good share of time to talk to Zelda and get his bearings that Guy finally picks up his SFC, opting to keep himself anonymous this time around. There was too much that had happened while he was gone. It would just be nice to get a general sense of the city, if anything else.]

Breaking the ice around strangers is pretty hard, isn't it? I know we all have to do it all the time around here, with everyone coming and going. But it doesn't make it any easier.

Some people take to it easier than others, though. And I'm sure some of you have learned ways to interact with a new person just by being in this crazy place.

So tell me, Vatheon. How would you treat a stranger?

[Zelda's just doing a little tidying up when she hears movement from upstairs - actual movement! Her house has been empty for the past two weeks other than visitors and Guy, and Guy's been sleeping. It's been a difficult period of time. Finally hearing his voice, she finds herself immensely relieved. Zelda heads to where she hears the sound, smiling fondly.]

Guy... you're awake.

[She gestures back towards the kitchen.]

Would you like me to make you a little tea while you freshen up? We... we have a few things to discuss.

[The smile fades from her face at his question. She'd been hoping he would be groggy enough to not ask her, but apparently that's not the case.]

It is a bit of a story, you should get settled in first.

[She can't just lie to his face and say that everything is fine. It's not, even if she has adjusted to the idea now. Zelda knows that it's going to be a lot though, so she doesn't want to push it all on him before he's had a chance to wake up. She heads into the kitchen to get him a glass of water as requested.]

I suppose you do not have to worry about washing up first. My ancestors went home the day after we discussed it.

[It shouldn't come as a surprise that he doesn't want to get washed up first, anyway. She wouldn't, she would want to know what the bad news was. She settles down next to him, one cushion away as usual.

Where should she even start?

Chronologically might be the easiest.]

Another Link showed up in the city this arrival cycle. He's... from the future, the future in which Hyrule is flooded. He confirmed that the king of Hyrule was the one who made that wish. I am still a little shaken, honestly.

[That was the night she'd removed the barrier.]

[He's not going to be using text because he hates typing. He does voice instead.]

That depends on the stranger and the type of personality they have.

[Her face darkens dangerously just thinking about it.]

...to keep the land from Ganondorf. Ganondorf was going to wish it back to the surface. It seems he was telling me the truth when he showed up here back in the summer. Now that I am aware of it, I will ensure that no descendant of mine grows up to be so incredibly selfish and petty.

[It won't be a problem. Hyrule won't be having kings in charge anymore, not until peace has been made with the Gerudo. She'll make sure of it.]

I did not want to bother him about it too much though, so I left it at that. He's young - he looks similar to how Link did when I first met him, and he was about ten years old then. I didn't want to burden him. He seems to be settling in all right.

[Zelda braces herself for the next thing that happened, knowing that it will affect Guy the most.]

...the next day, Zelos showed up again. The scientists have taken his memories.

Well, same way I treat anyone - nice, and welcoming. Any stranger is a potential friend, right?! :3

To me it's always a little awkward to talk to a stranger, but I would treat them just like anyone else.

[Well...]

The same way I'd treat anyone else! Close friends were once strangers, so why treat the friends you haven't made yet any differently than the ones you already have?

I have. He is... understandably startled at how well I seem to know him. I would have kept quiet on the matter if I'd known to, but since it was so soon after speaking with Link, I was just relieved to see him. I've explained the situation to him as best I can.

[Zelda pushes a hand through her hair wearily. If only that was the end of it. She looks at Guy, waiting for him to absorb the new information before continuing.]

Yup! The best way :)

Same as anyone isn't nice - you keep acting nice back. Less they're trying to kill ya, then you have to be mean! You come across a lot of mean newcomers lately? :/

Yeah, sometimes they don't. But if you keep treating them like they already are your friends, you might actually become friends!

I think that sometimes the only reason people don't get along is because they didn't keep trying.

[Like how Sheena was trying to kill her at first, and how Mithos is slowly making progress toward not hating humans.]

Not in the least. He took it exactly as one would expect. He is... he's definitely Zelos.

[It had almost been eerie talking to him. Sometimes she forgot that he didn't remember, others the lack of his memory couldn't be more obvious. It just made things that much harder, and it made her feel as if she'd been manipulating him somewhat into acting as she thought he "should".]

I will find his memories. Being able to retain the memories of this place after returning home is a vital piece of the puzzle. Like everything else, it will simply take time.

[Hm. Serph's flicked through some of the other replies before answering. Serph doesn't reply in text.]

Tell the scenario I meet them under and I can give a more useful answer.
