[It's late. Or too damn early. Somewhere in that ambiguous area, like 3:00 in the morning, just fine for certain parts of the alien population and a god-awful time for the rest. But here Kid is, addressing the network from the confines of a room in the island-side village.

One can just make out a few figures (Maka Albarn and Rin Okumura) behind him, sound asleep in their bed.]

I have a very important announcement to make, one that simply cannot wait until morning!

[The grim reaper, looking more lively than he has since... well, since the bubble cracked, stoops out of sight of the SFC, and reappears with an Umbreon in his arms. Beaming with the pride perhaps only a father might have for their child, he declares:]

This is Pip, and he's become even more beautiful than ever!

[It is indeed Pip, recently evolved, and he is still fat. He is also a she, but Kid never investigated that closely. Promptly forgetting about the SFC in his eagerness, Kid retreats with Pip in his arms to bend over Maka.]

Maka, Maka! Wake up! I don't want you to miss this!

[He can't see it, but the affirmative tone of her voice gives across a similar message.]

Presently? The room I currently share with Maka Albarn and Rin Okumura while we're staying in the village.

Um...I want to see Pip? Just to see how he's doing right now as a new pokemon!

It's my job to see that all the pokemon here get the care they need! [She wasn't overstepping anything here...right?]

Ah, in that case, I can come out to meet you. Rin has gone back to sleep, and I'd rather not disturb him twice.

...It seems Maka has already rejoined him, so I'll be accompanying Pip alone.

Ah...you don't have to do that! I have pokemon with me so I'll be safer!

[Because he's done quite enough of that already, waking Maka and Rin up to gush over Pip some more.

[With that, Bianca quickly went over to the village but once she made it over there?]

Kid, is that you? [...Huh, Pip looks clearly looks pretty happy during this time of the night.]

[Kid has the added benefit of being very recognizable, standing out against the fresh paint on the residence door as a drab collection of stark white and deep black.

Pip's red eyes gleam in the faint light, prancing in place with unbridled enthusiasm. Oh boy! She's gotten so much attention tonight, this is great!

The reaper steps forward.]

[She said softly in hopes that she couldn't wake up Maka and Rin. However as soon as she said that, she knelled down to Pip's level.]

It's nice to see you again after all these years hm? [Well mostly on her part but...]

It looks like he's as healthy as ever! [...cough]

[Ah, that's right -- she's been gone a short while, and yet to her, entire years have passed. He can relate with that sentiment, a little. Pip, meanwhile, prances in a tight circle and flops down on the ground with that round belly exposed for the expected petting.

Kid might have cringed a little at his Umbreon rolling around in the dirt.]

Speaking of, I've learned tonight that Pip is a girl.

[He never checked, okay?! No one checked, they just assumed Kid knew what he was talking about!!

Or never bothered to correct him.]

[As Pip did so, she simply smiled and began petting the small pokemon. She knew that it had only been a short while here in Vatheon when she left but it was still a surprise to see Pip turn into an Umbreon!

Of course, in the middle of petting, she froze in place when she heard Kid's next words.]

...Um...how did you know?

[Did you check for her XXX?!?!?!]

[It takes Kid approximately 3 seconds to realize what she might have expected he'd done to discover this news, and he balks.]

Of course I didn't--!

[Defensive to the point of being a little snappish, Kid is just as quick to temper his reaction to stoicism again, clearing his throat behind his fist.]

But a few others have pointed it out. And just recently, Rin checked.

I never had a reason to.

Hm...but I don't think it would make that much of a difference in terms of care. As long as he....she's healthy, she should be just fine!
