[video] Selphie is Sad, but we're off hiatus!

*When Selphie woke up and she was able to leave her bed, she looked around the house for Rinoa. She wasn't upstairs, or downstairs. That wasn't so unusual. Selphie thought she'd use the SFC to see if Rinoa could bring back those burgers she got the last time Selphie was in a coma. But Rinoa's name wasn't on the list. Selphie knows too well what that means.

On the screen, Selphie is still wearing her little yellow pyjamas, curled up on the sofa in the living room she used to share with Rinoa. She blinks, rather forlornly, at the SFC*

I don't know when it happened but...Rinoa's gone home. For all her friends here...I thought I'd let you know that I'm from Rinny's homeworld too, but I'm from a place more in the future than from where she was here from. So, I can promise everyone that even though some crazy stuff might happen, Rinoa ends up perfectly safe and really happy, with friends and people who love her.

*Selphie manages a small, weak smile, then promptly switches off her SFC*

[ Sora looks a little forlorn himself. He knows too recently what waking up to one of your friends looking like feels like. ]

Riku went home again, too.

*Selphie tries a slightly bigger smile this time, just for Sora*

I'm sorry too. But at least I'm here, and you're here, so that's okay, right? Do you have anyone else here from your world?

[ He knows those smiles a bit too well Selphie, but he doesn't call her out on it. ]

Right.

[ He looks a little sheepish at that. ]

Yeah, there's actually a lot of people from my world here.

*Selphie just continues to smile the same way, her expression not changing any*

Then that's good, that at least you guys still have each other.

[ Come on Selphie he knows you're putting up a front. This isn't supposed to be about him anyway. ]

Do you have people from your world here still?

[ Sora would like to say she did since he knows her, or a version of her as complicated as that is, from back home, but he knows it wouldn't be the same. ]

*Lowering her eyes, Selphie shakes her head gently*

Nopes. Just me. I waited years for Squall to get here...then Rinoa. Now it's just me. Again.

Maybe they'll show up some day?

[ It was always a stretch to hope for that, but the hope had to still be there, and you never knew. ]

I'll be okay. I mean, at least I know I'll actually see her again... Just sucks being the only one from my world again, ya know?

I know. It was like that for a long time for me. Rinoa was one of my first friends here.

Well, whenever I end up going back home, I'll be sure to let her know that you said hi.

[In the kitchen on a counter is a vase filled with different flowers. There is no cohesion to the arrangement, as there are one flower for each day of Selphie's coma. Daisies, roses, orchids, tulips, baby's breath, lilies; all sitting happily in their place.]

[Aya was certain that he had more time until Selphie woke up, so at the moment he's out at the flower shop for a bit, and will return soon.]

*When Selphie finally drags herself to the kitchen, the first thing she sees is the vase. She counts the flowers, and the thoughtfulness of the gesture is enough to tip Selphie over the edge. So she hugs the vase to herself, and allows herself to cry for a little while, safely alone*

[It's a few minutes later that Aya could be heard coming inside, one of his arms full of groceries, and another flower is sticking out of the bag this time: a lilac. Once he steps in, he notices that things in the living room are not how he had them, which puts him on alert.]

[To not attract attention, Aya continues his movements, but puts his bag down next to the door and grabs his sword, conveniently left by the door in a corner. This time, he makes sure to stay unseen and unheard. Who was here? Why would anyone think to break in?]

*She's soon distracted from her thoughts by the noise in the next room. Carefully putting down the vase, Selphie quickly wipes at her eyes. On tip toes, she moves slowly and quietly towards the living room, and calls out with a shaky voice*

Aya? Is that you?

[So it was Selphie...but...]

Are you alone? [Because if she was held hostage...]

*Selphie just looks at him for a moment, thinking about how to answer - she wasn't alone because he was there, but she was very alone in that house now, with Rinoa gone, so she nods*
