[Saix really doesn't want to admit it, because that would make Axel right, but it's simply fact that he realizes once he's back in his own body instead of stuck in Axel's. It reminded him of what it felt like to be Isa a little bit, and it also reminded him of how it had felt when he had first joined the Organization. How he is now is... different. It's the Darkness. It feels thicker, like a heavy fog. He knows he's done some horrible things in the name of his goal, but never cared because the end justified the means. Still, this almost feels like too much.]

[Saix spends the day trying to convince himself that he's just letting himself fall into the same delusional trap that Axel has, but in the end, he has to know.]

[So you'll be seeing this guy on the SFC today, looking as calm and apathetic as ever.]

I'm curious, but are there any in Vatheon who are knowledgeable in the spiritual heart of a person? Perhaps the better, more general word would be 'soul'.

[A body, a mind, and a 'heart'- that's what makes a person, isn't it? But take away the 'heart', have it be lost to Heartless, and you're left with a body and a mind. A Nobody...]

Hm, then I suppose that too is a realm of knowledge I can't help with.

There's only one person in my life who I love, but...

[ Barry looked away a mixture of anger and sadness on his face. ]

As of late he constantly tries to deny me, and I can't understand why.

[ Maybe this was what a heart was for. ]

Perhaps you're just bad at romance.

[Whoops, there he goes, showing what a lack of a heart can do to you! Or. Maybe he's just an asshole. Possibly.]

[ Barry's head snaps up to glare at the screen. ]

And I suppose you're better?

I never claimed I was. Besides making it difficult to connect with another on an emotional level, lacking a heart means I also have no interest in pursuing any sort of romance. [All other relationships, coincidentally, are viewed with heavy suspicion.] It seems a waste of time to me.

And what about when you did have a heart?

You don't long for that connection again?

I do. I've spent the last ten years working towards a way to reverse what's been done. Thus why I am asking in the first place about all of this.

And you don't believe that longing is perhaps a remnant of a heart?

If it's truly gone you wouldn't feel even that would you not?

[ Barry wasn't too sure. It wasn't exactly something he could compare to his own situation, not quite anyway. ]

Have you ever read about those who have lost limbs, yet still sometimes think they can feel them- still think they have them, still feel aches where none of their nerves extend?

[ Actually Barry was very well aware of his own limbs. Being able to regenerate even across distances had that effect. ]

[ Known as... Barry wondered how much truth there was to that particular name, but without a soul he really wouldn't be able to own him anyway. ]

Are you always this sweet?

I don't see a point in prettying my words or actions.

...Besides, when I've pretended to be anything even remotely 'sweet', I've been told the effect is disconcerting.

Maybe that's because you don't do it often?

[ Barry could certainly see that with the way Saix acted. ]

It takes practice.

I'm still not seeing a point to it.

[ Barry chuckled again. ]

The point, is getting people to trust you. To let you in.

People with hearts, or souls, tend to notice when there's someone without in their midst, but you can fool them.

[ Barry smiled then, sweetly and looked just as an angel might, perfect and innocent. ]

I'm not sure how much good it would do me.. If there's one thing I've observed, it's that those with particularly noticeable scars tend to be more intimidating.

[ Barry shook his head. ]

That doesn't mean there's not a way for you to smile that will have people trusting you.

[ He paused for a moment. ]

I could teach you.

[This sounds suspiciously like a waste of time, and he doesn't quite trust this person just yet... Still, who knows? Maybe it will come in useful.]

I suppose it couldn't hurt.

[ It's probably a good thing not to trust Barry, but Saix seems interesting, and despite the scars on his face he's attractive, so why not help? ]

But if I do show you how to do this, then there has to be some exchange. Nothing bad of course, it's such a small thing to teach someone to smile, but I would like a favor in return.
