[Gasp! It's a rare video appearance from ~~the chia pet~~ N! Unfortunately he doesn't look too happy. In fact he seems almost... sad. Cradled in one arm is an egg, and his hat is actually off for once.]

I went by Wally's place. I hadn't seen him in a while and I wanted to check on him.

[There's a pause here, and that 'almost sad' actually becomes very clearly sad. N wasn't much of a people person, but he did like Wally, and he was one of the few people N was willing to be friends with almost instantly.]

He's been sent home. His team went with him, but his Swablu egg was left behind. I'm going to care for it.

... I'm... sorry to anyone who was friends with him. ... he was a good trainer...

[And with that, N shuts the feed off]

[ ... oh, no. It didn't take a rocket scientist to see that N really cared a lot for Wally, so losing him must have been pretty hard to deal with. ]

If anyone can take good care of that egg, it's you. Are you coming home now?

I was going to stop in the plaza. I'm running out of treats for Zoroark.

Okay. I'll be here when you return.

[ Armed with hugs, if he wants them. ]

[He might actually accept hugs, because he is feeling pretty bad.]

I'll be home soon.

Okay.

[ And so the wait for him to return home begins. ]

[Luckily it doesn't take long, a half an hour at most, before he's unlocking the door and coming in with a grocery bag and an egg.]

I'm home!

[ She meets him at the door, holding her arms out to take whatever N wants to give to her. She's expecting the grocery bag, really. ]

Welcome home. I take it everything else went well?

[That's exactly what she gets. He's being protective of the egg. It's not that he doesn't trust her - he just feels responsible for it.]

Yes.

[ Yep, she expected as much. She's not offended or anything. She takes the bag of groceries and places it down on the kitchen counter, but she doesn't put anything away yet. She's got something more important to do first.

Hilda moves back over toward him, and holds her arms out to him again. ]

Come over here.

[ You're getting a hug, mister. You need it. ]

I didn't really know that Wally kid, but I had to take care of an egg once. It wasn't a Pokemon, but... I imagine they can't be that different?

I've been caring for Pokemon my entire life. One egg isn't bound to give me any trouble.

So you lived around Pokemon all your life, huh? That sounds a lot like my friend, Ikuto. He was raised by Digimon from when he was a baby... they're sort of like the Pokemon from your world.

I've never heard of Digimon.

They're a lot like Pokemon... except they live in a different dimension from humans. They can also speak human language too... well, some of 'em.

My partner ended up being pulled to my world as an egg... or at least that's what they tell me. I met him after he hatched...

Pokemon have their own language. Some humans can understand it, but it's rare, and often viewed as 'unnatural'.

You can heal. Healing is different.

I'm not sure how do to do that.

To be honest, I don't really know either. But it's something I like to think everyone can do, and that's better than being caught up in sadness and loss.

I've never really had to be caught up in sadness and loss so I'm stuck not knowing how to deal with it now.
