[ Well, it's taken a little while. But a warm towel and a trip to the Welcoming Committee later, Kairi has a lot better of an idea as to what's going on here than she'd had just prior to that. It's a relief and a worry all at once, to know that she's not alone in this. To see so many others stuck here is kind of sad--but still, they're making the most of it. A lot of people seem happy.

And that's a good thing. She's a firm believer in positivity helping you make it through anything.

Which is why she's got a smile on her face when the video clicks on; she's honestly delighted at the prospect of meeting so many new faces. And at the possibility that maybe, just maybe (however unlikely) her long-lost best friends might be here, too. In the very least she's gotten off the island and is now living an adventure of her own. It's daunting as heck, but pretty exciting, too.

And oh, yeah! This thing is recording. Uhhhhh. ]

You know, one of my friends used to be convinced that there was a whole other world under the sea. But she said you'd have to sprout gills and fins to get there. Wait until I tell her you don't need to! She won't believe me.

[ Her grin warms, and she waves. ]

Hi, if you're watching this. I'm Kairi. And I guess it's pretty obvious that I'm new, huh?

[ Being the new girl again. At least she's experienced this feeling before. ]

I've gotta thank the Welcoming Committee for that map, you guys are lifesavers. But all the maps in the world aren't going to materialize a couple of boys out of thin air. So I'm wondering if anyone seen a guy named Riku, or... or...

[ She frowns, furrowing her brow in mild annoyance. She still can't remember. ]

I don't know what his name is, but he'd probably be hanging around with Riku.

So, has anyone seen them? I need to give them a talking to.

[ The grin turns into a playful smirk, and then the transmission ends. ]

Also, kind of expected the tomboy bit. 1. She grew up with them. 2. Most of the Princesses of Heart seemed to be the same way. (ow, that whip hurt...)]

Yeah. [C'mon, Kairi. Give him some credit in being able to help save the worlds after his slide down the slippery slope.] ...Is it really that surprising?

[ Right, it wasn't. But at least it's looking brighter now.

Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and Cinderella are much girlier than she is, kk? All the dress-wearing and letting the men take care of things. This one might wear a dress, but she'll be darned if she stands back and lets everyone save her when the worlds are at stake anymore.

And... she grins happily. ] No, it isn't. I'm happy, not surprised.

[ And here she goes! Smirking. ]

But I am surprised that you can see at all through all that hair.

[Exactly.

Also, He'd stay away from their frying pans and brooms. They may be more girly, but that doesn't mean their aim isn't deadly. Maybe one of their stops should be Beast's Castle... and he has to apologize to Jasmine, still. Agrabah is one more he isn't really looking forward to visiting.

A faint smile plays across his lips at that one, yet he nods.]

Oh really- [Well, there went that tease. Instead, he laughs.] That's one secret I'm not telling.

[ She doesn't care what she kicks butt with, so long as she gets to.

Kairi smiles a little, though that laugh is still...

Still not the one she remembers. It's saddening, to see him like this. And frightening, when she starts to think of all he must have endured by himself. None of them really do well on their own at all, which is why she's so happy to have found him so quickly.

Somehow, she'll make sure he can laugh (and mean it) again. This just steels her resolve. ]

X-Ray vision? [ She grins, and then sobers enough to remark: ]

It kind of suits you, though. I like it.

[Judging by what happens here occasionally? He definitely thinks she'll get the chance.

It's a laugh that has more life than it did just a few short months ago, and he has the harsh moment of realization that it's only the second time he's really laughed since the door to darkness was closed and he was locked on the other side. Seeing Sora's face with his own eyes for the last time (before coming here), seeing Kairi behind him in the distance... There's a flicker of sadness in his eyes before he closes them, smiling faintly.]

That would be interesting, but no. [He brushes the tip of his nose with a finger, smirking a bit.] Heh. Thanks, Kairi.

Think any of where you'll be staying while you're here?

[ Good. Playing blitzball with Tidus and Wakka has at least gotten her into pretty good shape. That's half the battle right there. She wants to be competent in some form of defending herself.

Anyway, it's a nice thing to hear. Even if she's going to be stubborn and help him with whatever he needs to heal so that someday, she can hear a genuine, heartfelt laugh out of him again. He's her best friend, and she wants him to be happy. Not just go through the motions.

Eventually, she knows it'll be okay. For now, she's just glad to hear that laugh. She smiles up at him. ]

Don't thank me. Sora and I are going to have to keep all the girls away when we go home at this rate.

[ Shaking her head, her grin fades to a thoughtful look. ]

Not really, no. I'd like to be close to you and Mickey, if I can, but..

[ Sheepishly: ] I'll look for something later.

[It definitely will help--and hey, it works for Wakka. Besides, is that really even more strange than some umbrella or pepperoni pizza? It works better than some giant banana, too. ~~Thank you, Mission Mode.~~

Yet it isn't going through the motions: he IS happy. There's just the burden of his actions and the path he chose weighing down on him as he does what he can to try and see that no one else has to suffer like he had.

There's a more genuine smirk crossing his lips at the thought, yet it's still laced with doubt.]

Too bad, because I-

[He stops himself there, remembering who he is with. Oh. Oh no. What did he just get himself into? He glances at Kairi, then away just as quickly. irk.]

I know a few hotels... ['Or you could stay with us for a while, if you- no, don't want to sound creepy after that trailing off!'] There's also a few places that are available nearby, too.

[ Kairi headtilts in his direction as they walk. ]

Hm?

[ And she frowns, before shaking her head. ]

I don't have any munny for a hotel, Riku. I'll find somewhere.

[ A small smile. ] Don't worry about it.

Just walk me into town, and I'll be able to take care of myself.

...Nothing.

[Because he just realized that if they do go home, then... he won't remember a certain someone and for some reason that really strikes a hard blow for him more than it normally would. He keeps his eyes forward as they walk, fist clenching slightly.]

Just about everything outside of the Nostalgia Nook is free here, including hotel rooms. [he explains, brushing some of the long strands from his face.] Also, my shift's almost over. Mami and Kyouko should be taking over soon.

Oh.

[ Wait until she makes friends here (again). She'll be right there in that "this freaking sucks" corner with you. ]

Then I'll go loo-- [ Oh. She smiles a little. ]

Oh, okay. I didn't and don't want to impose, so I didn't assume.

[He doesn't look forward to that day at all, nor does he like the fact that this place meddles with their memories so much. He's had enough of others affecting his mind and heart like that.]

Don't worry about it. [He shakes his head.] It's better than wandering aimlessly.

[...Or returning to a 'home' where everyone was asleep aside from the King and Queen.]

[ Again, she's unaware of the true nature of this place. Just waiiit until she finds out. This will be one very unhappy PoH. ]

Alright. [ Then she laughs a little. ] I'm not that helpless, Riku.

I've always been the best navigator of the three of us for a reason.

[ Really, she'll be okay. She needs to grow up and learn not to always depend solely on others. It's time she steps up and becomes someone others can rely on, too. ]

[He is not looking forward to that moment at all, just so you know. Until then, he'll just chuckle at their expense.]

I know you aren't. You didn't get lost in the park on your first day here.

[...Like Sora did. He had to lead him out while wearing a blindfold. That was always fun. Also, ignore the look in his eyes. That's just the look of someone plotting doom- we mean possible training, if she asks for it.]

[ Hell hath no fury like a pissed off PoH. And who is he tea--ah. She grins. ]

Are you serious? His sense of direction really needs work.

[ She laughs a little, wishing she'd gotten to see that. And there's no ignoring that look, Riku. What are you plotting? She pokes his arm, ready to call him on it. ]

[He knows. Oh, does he know. This is why if Jasmine ever appears he is hiding far, faaar away.]

I'm serious. I'm surprised he managed to actually navigate worlds safely with how bad his sense of direction is.

[Oh, she just might be able to. Because that entire event? He recorded it. And- Uh oh, is he busted?]

Oh, I was just wondering something... [And now the teasing is on her.]

[ Beware of Belle, too. HER ELBOWS ARE LETHAL. ]

So am I. How in the world did he manage to do it?

[ Ohoho. >3 She wants to see it! And yes. Sidling up to him, grinning. ]
