[Very deliberate (and deliberated over) video]

[Ky's sitting in his apartment. It's afternoon now, and he's spent since midnight thinking about this, almost entirely off the network. But it's clear that the solution isn't just thinking, and that he can't implement his desired solution on his own.]

It's become apparent that one thing this place is suffering from is a severe lack of justice. There always remained the question of once we caught the murderer what could be done to keep them separate in what passes for society here, to keep them from hurting another.

And now, failed joke or not, a woman lies dead. And we do know who is responsible.

Are we really going to sit back, be distressed and discomfited, but do nothing?

Or is it time to set up some system of justice? -- Not vengeance, that's not what I'm recommending, but there needs to a rehabilitation process.

That's been botherin' me too.

[She hasn't exactly lost sleep over it, but the whole justice system in Vatheon — or lack thereof — seems out of place no matter how she looks at it.]

Where I come from, we had a whole global order fighting our enemies and even then everything went to hell. How's a place like this still standin'?

It was one of their own. S'long as they aren't botherin' one o' us, then I see no reason to step in. If they want to persue the culprit, then by all means step in and help. We really have no business trying to set up some system for what is beyond our control.

[Otoha's expression is relatively blank as he responds.]

There hasn't been a system before, and there's been murder before. I don't see the need to put some kind of system - your kind of system - on a place that's been running all right without it.

'Rehabilitation' doesn't work. I've seen people go into prison and come out worse than before - not once or twice, but pretty much every time.

As for her being dead... why do you care?

[She's silent, thinking about this.]

A system haven't been set up, whether due to lack of skills, organisation or because the populace do not care enough.

...A rehabilitation process can only work if the criminal is willing to change.

[Hah... Serph can't help but wonder how that would work out for his Tribe if someone not Tiir discovers they're killing locals on a weekly basis. Nevertheless, he responds to this post, despite his unfamiliarity with the concept of justice.]

What would a rehabilitation process entail?

[He's always solved things with killing :T ]

Do you want to know why a system doesn't exist here?

[He looks amused mostly, as he watches this happen.]

You want cops and trials? A 'Law and Order: Vatheon' as it where?

That's assuming these people react to psychotherapy or whatever you'd have in mind for this rehabilitation.

However, a sort of police force for the residents would help in such matters I'm sure.
