Action / video
[Action (closed to Zelda)]
[Link starts awake, and finds himself somewhere... unexpected.]
[The sky above, blue and wavering with light filtering down dimly, reminds him of nothing so much as the Chamber of the Sages - and with an almost physical shock, he concludes that he must be in the Sacred Realm.]
[Then... he really did fail.]
[But if this is an afterlife of sorts, then why are his clothes still torned and bloodied and soaking wet from the rain? The sword is still nearby, and the battered shield - the bow's string is still broken, the quiver is still empty. Setting a hand on his chest, he finds ridges of scar tissue - the injuries that he had succumbed to, now looking as if he had spent a good month or so recovering.]
[And what exactly is that... thing in the middle of the plaza he's now lying in?]
[Some time later, dried off, clothed, and settled at the Welcome Center, Link is finally ready to say hello to his fellow foreigners. The tattoo on the back of his left hand gets an uncomfortable look, and the StarFish Communicator (green, naturally) gets switched on.]
...Hi. Zelda said that I can use this to talk to everyone here, so I guess I should say hi to everyone. [He gives a sheepish little smile.]
I'm Link - or one of them, I guess, Zelda said my ancestor is here. [He does look rather bemused at that.]
Um... I guess that's all. [And off it goes.]

They're more annoying than dangerous, you just have to outrun them and they'll go back in.
no subject
I think that makes it official. Being in the desert sucks, no matter what world you're in.
no subject
[No sense dwelling on the past. He shakes his head.] I guess there's no desert down here, huh?

[Lloyd has almost no fond memories of those trips through the Triet desert.
At Link's question, he shakes his head.]
Not that I've seen yet. It'd be really weird if there was a desert underwater, but I guess anything's possible here. There's a forest, though, and a pirate ship!

[Okay, he's not even trying to tell a scary story, and he's still giving himself the creeps. Forests! Yes, forests! That's a much safer thing to talk about.]
Hey, so did I! The forest I grew up in isn't exactly the same as the one that's here, but it's pretty close. There's even a lot of the same animals!
no subject
[But forests are definitely a safer topic, yes.] Really? It was really strange when I first left - the field was so open. What kind of animals are there?
no subject
Besides, the topic's completely switched.]
Deer, squirrels, birds, bugs, that sort of thing. I haven't seen anything dangerous there yet, but I might have just gotten lucky. I think some people live there, too.
no subject
[Living there, huh...] Are there any houses in there?
no subject
Deer kind of look like horses - um, you know what horses are, right? - only they've got skinnier legs and you can't ride them, and male deer have horns like tree branches. They're really good for eating, and their skin makes pretty good leather. Squirrels look a little like rats that climb trees, and they've got really fuzzy tails. I wouldn't eat them unless you were desperate. They're not really worth the effort.
[All the important details, from one woodsman to another.]
I've seen a few houses, but I don't know if there are any that are empty. I already have an apartment that I like, and it's close to my friends, so I haven't really been looking for that. Someone else might know, though. You could ask around!
no subject
I guess I'm not really used to apartments, though. They're too... big.
no subject
[Lloyd thinks about that for a moment.]
Yeah, I think I get what you mean. I've gotten used to sleeping in different places, though, so it doesn't bother me, and like I said, I'm close to my friends.
[But that doesn't necessarily help Link at all.]
Have you thought about building your own place?
no subject
[Building his own? Huh.] I guess so... do you think I could get things to make it out of? I don't want to cut down any trees.
no subject
Oh, yeah, you can definitely get wood from the shops! I've been thinking about building a boat, so I've been asking around. You can also get things like bricks and stones and mortar mix - probably anything you need to build a house!

Let me know if you need any help. I've done some carpentry before. I wouldn't mind lending a hand.

You can't be as bad as my Professor. She can make anything taste bad.
[Yeah, uh, Lloyd will be just as happy to pass on any offers of roasted leever on a stick.]
Great! Just give me a heads up when you've decided what you want and where you want to make it!
no subject
I will. I want to explore a bit first - maybe I can find somewhere I like in the town, too.
no subject
Of course. Hey, even if you find someplace in the city, maybe we can still meet up sometime. It sounds like we might be a lot alike. It'd be fun!
no subject
Sure! What kind of things do you usually do around here?

[Does carving battle scenes on his tree house count as a craft?]
no subject
Yeah! That'd be great! You're right, you never know what might happen here. I definitely want to be prepared.
[Hey, carving on a tree is totally a craft, at least as far as Lloyd's concerned!]
Well, I'm pretty good at working with wood and carving things, and my Dad taught me a lot about working as a smith. I'll never be as good as a dwarf, but I can make smaller things, like necklaces and little sculptures. I might sell some of it to make some extra money, just in case there's things I want to buy in the Nook.
