Thirty-Fourth Flare - Video - Birds, Birds, Everywhere

So yeah, turns out Myde was pregnant.

[Way to open up a feed, Lea. But he's grinning into the camera, hair tied back and in a too large t-shirt and pants. He's also covered in soft downy feathers of all sorts of colors; it isn't easy calming down the flock when they're so excitable. As he adjusts the camera, it's obvious he's near some rather simple looking stables. Anyone who's worked or visited the Phoenix Nest would recognize them as being behind there.]

[When he's done fiddling with the view, the camera is focused on a group of Chocobos. There's Myde, one of the adults and a beautiful soft brown with specks of white on her chest, looking tired but calmly pleased. Hovering near her is Alex, a bright red who couldn't look more proud as he nuzzles Myde.]

[And around them?]

Yep, looks like the second generation of Vatheon-born Chocochicks are here! Heh, aren't they adorable? And new colors, too, look!

[Lea looks just as proud as Alex as he sits down amongst the chirping, energetic chicks. There are seven in all, and they happily flop and flutter onto the teen. There are a few very pale gray chicks, and another couple which are a much darker shade, a strange kind of lavender-gray. There are a pair of soft colored yellows and one lone red. Lea handles all of them carefully and with utter adoration.]

I'll cut everyone the same deal Stein did whenever his chocobos laid eggs. If you think you can give one of these sweethearts a good home, and you can tell me so, I'll let you keep one. Myde and Alex won't mind.

Mistreat them and I will wreck your life.

[He says it with a cheery grin that is 100% brutal honesty.]

((ooc: Yep! Lea is giving away chocobo chicks. Just have your character comment and Lea will talk it out. I'll keep track of who has which chick here in the ooc.

[For all his coolkid rambling, he sure as hell isn't used to that. This is not what he meant when he said he's always covered in bitches.]

I guess I'll come by in a bit. Hopefully a bignasty cold won't end m-[Going to actually cut the feed off right as he sneezes. No, you are not going to call him out on his ridiculous sneezes that should not be heard by anyone but himself.]

[Lea will just be laying there. Covered in chocobos. It is a good life.]

[You'll probably see him heading slowly towards the location. It's not hard to miss the bright red jacket he's got. The black scarf around his neck probably doesn't help with the contrast either.]

I guess I'm here.

[What Lea's camera didn't show is that the backyard-slash-stables of the Phoenix Nest is filled with Chocobos. So as Dave approaches, there are quite a few coming over to inspect him. A particularly daring yellow even tries to nudge at Dave's shoulder.]

[Lea just waves from where he is.]

Heya!

[Holy shit. There are giant birds approaching him. Holy shit what?]

The fuck. Do they all grow up to be this big? [He can't even be angry...because, well he likes them. Which is why that daring yellow one gets a pat on the beak. There are so much cooler then crows, holy shit.]

I didn't know there were so many here. [He isn't going to bother asking how long the other has been around. Really fucking long is a good enough answer in his mind.]

Some a little more, some a little less. Radi's the biggest they get, far as I know. Hey, Radi! [Lea flaps his arms at a particularly large yellow Chocobo who simply stands to the side. He is obviously a no nonsense kind of bird, and one of the only ones who doesn't immediately flock to Dave. Alpha of the flock, here, and he won't take no nonsense! He is also towering close to seven-eight feet. Scary bird.] Don't mind him, he's just a grouch.

The one you're pattin' right now is Crocus, he's a sweet guy, especially since he's grown out of the usual 'growing up Stein' trauma. You got his sibs nearby, Holly and Hydran- they're yellow too, give 'em a moment and they'll warm up to you.

I use these guys all for helping with the shop. We do deliveries, y'know. And they're pretty smart birds!

I can dig that. The big dude wants to make sure everyone knows he's got this shit. Can't start fooling around or they're going to start thinking he ain't as big and bad as he's making himself to be.

What about the new little dudes? [He wants to see them. He is thirteen and has trouble hiding his excite.]

[Lea gives a small impressed whistle; it's a good sign that someone gets Radi! He didn't once upon a time, and looked what happened then. Fireballs happened then. ]

Good idea. And ha, you've only seen the first generation here. Only half, at that. Got seventeen of these guys still stickin' with me. The chicks'll probably go to good homes, but with them added, now it's twenty four.

[...Maybe he should stop raising birds.]

[...]

[Nope.]

They're still with momma and pops, don't you know? C'mon. [Lea gestures to one of the open stables.] Go and see your new baby.

[It's probably because Dave kind of tries doing that himself.]

Guess you can't have enough chicks now can you? Better be careful before you're neck deep in them.

[He makes his way over and looks inside curiously. He isn't going to bother responding to the new baby comment. He hasn't said he was keeping him, even if he probably will.]

[Myde just looks back at him curiously before going back to mommying the near half a dozen chicks that are nested around her. There's a curious wark from the proud dad. Lea, in the meantime, just nudges Dave in the back with one bony elbow.]

Go on in, Myde's a good girl, she won't bite.

[Dave stumbles forward a bit before casually going over the Myde and the small chicks.

He's looking around a bit.] Jegus they're pretty energetic for just being newborns.

Hey, like I said, cross between a dog and a horse. All that energy has to go somewhere. Oh- watch your feet.

[And then there was a small bird army going for Dave's feet. It's all they can reach, sadly. They are still but bitties. When they grow up, they'll make sure to go for the hair.]

[And you know. His brain was telling him this may end terribly with baby birdies climbing all over him, but whatever.

He makes sure they aren't going to get squished before setting himself down so now he's sitting. Climb away little birdies! Climb away.] I guess so. Do they crash as hard as how much energy they seem to exude through their chubby little bodies?

[And Dave is now the third person to get completely covered in birds since visiting Lea today. He is clearly aiming for a new goal.]

At first, yeah. They get better as they grow up, 'tho.

[A pause. A long one. Where Lea and Alex just stare at each other...]

Usually.

[Dave doesn't seem to actually mind, honestly. He lets them flock about like the widdle things they are. The sunglasses make it impossible to tell where he's looking, but one can guess seeing as his head seems to follow the red one. Of course he would be most interested in that one.]

Usually. [He reaches out towards the red one.]

I make no guarantees to the personality of your kid, just throwin' that out there.

[He snickers a bit as the red one nips at Dave's fingers before making a determined hop at his hand in an effort to try and get on his arm.]

Did I mention that reds love to climb?

Shouldn't be a problem. I doubt its personality will really bother me.

[Striders are capable of taking care of even the most obnoxious of things...maybe.

He raises an eyebrow before helping it successfully get onto his arm. Okay little dude, climbing you want? Climbing you get.]

So I'm just going to start expecting him to be on my ceiling like Spiderman or some shit.

[Your arm has now been claimed as Red Chocobo territory, Dave. He is boldly going where no chick has gone before! Just... gonna... struggle up to your shoulder...]

Well, I don't know about the ceiling, but if you suddenly start getting divebombed by him jumping down from tall bookshelves, don't be alarmed. It's all fun and games until they get to the size of a dog, and then it's just kind of accidental concussion territory.

[Oh god. You're adorable. Lea might catch a glimpse of a small smile forming on the usually stoic face. He can't avoid smiling. This little dude is kind of adorable and his heart is losing to it.]

Naw. I got it under control then. I'm used to suddenly being attacked by crazy ass shit. [All that crazy Bro stuff will come in handy then.]

[Equius warned you, bro. He warned you about chocobos.]

Then congratulations, they shouldn't phase you. Probably.

[He already lost the moment he saw the lone little red one, bro. He was screwed from the start.]

Feeding him shouldn't be too much of a problem, right? Do I need to know anything specific to how to take care of him?

Well, when they're still tiny like this, you're gonna want to feed 'em this kind of formula- I'll shovel a few onto you before you leave, no worries. After the first few weeks, 'tho, you'll want to switch to greens.

There's a store down over in the Nook that sells 'em and other Chocobo stuff, so you can spend your stuff there if you want. I always have some to spare, 'tho, so there's that.

[Dave looks...surprisingly determined about this. He used to let crows into his room, but this was different. This would be his pet.]

Gotcha. I'll probably try and get the stuff myself. Don't wanna start feeling like some leecher or some shit.

Dude, there have been worst leechers.

...If you could somehow get me some of those nice fitting suits, we could call it even.
