I'm Ky Kiske, and I don't represent any formal group. Nonetheless, I was hoping that you might take the time to answer a few questions. We all live in this place together, and I think there are some steps that can be taken to make this more of a community and a community where we can feel safer.

You can answer either verbally or with a written response of your own, but either way I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss your answers with you, to determine what nuance there is.

Would you feel it safe to say that your world hasn't yet developed a judicial or even autonomous legislative process, yet?

[There's very little that offends Serph, thankfully.]

What is a legislative process?

It's a method of developing laws, in a way that can serve the best needs of the people.

Both do not exist in the Junkyard.

Then while I will endeavor to explain any decisions made to you, the system of justice set up on your world isn't...relevant to what should be set up in Vatheon.

1. What is the most severe crime where you come from? Certain types of technology development. Anything which would recreate the Gear Project... 2. What is your society's stance on murder? It's illegal. Punishable by imprisonment or death. 3. What keeps you from murdering people? (Is it concern for the consequences or concern on a moral level?) I don't have the right to take someone's life unless circumstances demand it. It's a moral concern. 4. Have you ever found yourself on the "wrong side of the law"? By some definitions. 5. What is your experience with courts or judges? I've been a police officer, but minimal experience with the court system beyond that. 6. Would you volunteer for jury duty if it was asked of you? Yes. 7. Do you presume innocence or guilt in a case where someone has been accused of a crime? Innocence.

[Serph has quite a lot of questions in regards to Ky's answers. If there are circumstances, does that mean he suddenly has the right to take life? Something to consider for later.]

What was the Gear Project?

It was the attempt of scientists to technologically and magically modify living creatures into weapons with great destructive potential. One Command Type Gear was made to control all the others, and told by A Country to fight according to their will. It...She...refused and instead declared a complete war on humanity. She was eventually defeated and trapped, so that all the Gears which she commanded went inactive -- they never had any will of their own once they became Gears. They have not all been destroyed, and recreating or restarting the Gear project would likely result in the destruction of humanity.

That hasn't stopped people from trying.

[That explains a lot of things. And... it almost sounds like a reversal of what happened to the Junkyard. People with emotions becoming people without, rather than those without gaining them. A rather scary thought.]

Are Command Type Gears the only Gears with autonomy? Did people willingly become Gears?

There are...a couple who have autonomy but aren't Command Type. It's far from being the norm. They weren't all people to begin with, some started off as just animals.

And that...I don't know.

[Hm. Ky had mentioned that most of the Gears were destroyed, but there were still some remaining.]

Do you know if it is possible to reverse the process of becoming a Gear?

It's not at all, as far as I know. Certainly no one ever has.

Regarding your answer to the fourth question, what do you mean by it?

As for that...

I've been a police officer, so I know the law, but there have been forces attempting to manipulate things from behind the scenes and I haven't fallen into line with what they want. But yet they have political power, and so. It gets a little complicated, when conspiracies are involved.

[All Serph knows about politics is that "devouring occurred every day", but he thinks he gets the general idea.]

So the law was not equally applied?

[That's not politics, Serph.]

Not as it should have been.
