Wakey, Wakey, Selphie!~

*So Selphie might look a little sleepy, and her hair's a little more tousled than usual. But at least she's sitting up in bed, even if she is still in her pyjamas. Yes, she's been dead asleep for over a week now, but she always still finds herself exhausted at the end of it. It's happened a couple of times now, and she's not really surprised*

 

Whoa... A new year and I've slept for most of it already! Boo!

Anything exciting happen while I was out?

[She laughs, seeing the kitty do that. Very intelligent indeed... and then she puts a hand to her chin. She hadn't exactly thought about this actually.]

...You think so? I guess that'd be a good idea... [Hrm.] A cake might be a little too much, and we don't wanna mess up and waste the ingredients.

[booyaka_boom]

*Moses, anyway, seeing the girls looking thoughtful and busy, turns to leave the room. Meantime Selphie glances over the various things lying around in the kitchen. Hopefully the drunken pirate ghost wouldn't appear...*

How about... cookies? Something little - that should be easy, right? I've tried them before..

[tsundyne]

[She glances around as well! And then perks up a little at the suggestion. She was thinking cupcakes, but—]

Perfect! I have once or twice, too...

You've got chocolate chips, right?

[booyaka_boom]

*Cupcakes?! They could be next!*

I hope the ones you made were nicer than the ones that I did!

*Selphie giggled as she looked through a heap of various types of chocolate ingredients*

Yeah! I got chocolate, dark chocolate, and white chocolate!

[tsundyne]

[...Aha. ha. Yeah, let's not talk about those. Oops. But Yukari smiles, seeing all the chocolate.]

Great! I don't really have a preference, to be honest, so...maybe we could make some of each.

[Unnnnless Selphie would prefer one over the others--]

That's a great idea!

*So Selphie grabs each of the bags and begins opening one, holding it out to Yukari*

Wanna try some first?

S-Sure!

[Oh, dear. Well, this is a slippery slope waiting to happen, but Yukari can't bring it in herself to say no!

...So yeah, she's totally grabbing one too.]

Heh, just gotta make sure not to eat all of them--

Okay, okay!

*Selphie is in danger of eating them all, so she puts them back and picks up a book instead*

Okay... a recipe..

[Yes good, gooood girl. That makes it much easier for Yukari to stop, too, and she looks at the book over her shoulder.

As they flip through, she notices a ton of sweet recipes, paying even closer attention when they get to the cookies. And she puts her hand on the page to keep Selphie from turning it again, when they get to one that catches her eye.]

Oh! How about these star-shaped ones? Looks like there are moons and suns too, on the same page.

[booyaka_boom]

*Yaay! Selphie can be good too, y'know! When Yukari stops her hand at the page, Selphie brightens up and nods*

Yeah! Those look really cute! Let's make those!

[tsundyne]

[It's decided then!

She removes her hand and leaves the book open to that page to refer to while they work, and she moves to get the ingredients ready.]

Should we make a lot? If they turn out well, I might take some back to my friends at the Volo Dorms...

[booyaka_boom]

*Selphie nods brightly, getting the utensils ready and sorting out the scales with some epic concentration*

That's a good idea! A bunch of batches maybe, and see what's best!

[tsundyne]

All right!

[Staring as she does all that. She's really excited! And then she realizes she needs to be helping too, so she opens a tube of cookie dough; and pulls out the stencil-like things they'll use to make them star, moon and sun-shaped.

Then she looks at the bags of regular, dark, and white chocolate chips.]

We'll need to add these ourselves; looks like the dough's plain.

[booyaka_boom]

*La, la, la. Cooking and baking. Selphie picks up the white choc chips first and pours some out into her hand, offering some to Yukari*

Read my mind.

[Yukari laughs as she takes some and puts them in her mouth. She works with Selphie to distribute the chips evenly in their first batch, and after a while of molding them into the proper shapes, she peeks at the oven.]

Guess we'll have to pre-heat this, huh?

[Well, they're almost done with said first batch, anyway. All the pretty stars!]

Pre-heat?

*Selphie panics and looks at the list of instructions. Dur - pre-heat is the first thing!*

Oops! Sure! I'll do that!

*She concentrates hard, but eventually gets the oven pre-heated!*

[No wories, Selphie. After all, Yukari technically didn't notice it either, until just now. So she nods when she sees her working on preheating the oven, and in the meantime finishes arranging the dough on a pan to be put inside.

Not too bad, if she does say so herself. : |b]

Okay...

*Selphie begins looking around for an oven glove. There's a big pink one with some hearts on it lying around somewhere...*

Now we just gotta put them in, right?

[tsundyne]

Exactly!

[She doesn't know what Selphie is looking for, but she spots it anyway and, after admiring how cute it looks, puts it on. The pan isn't hot just yet, but, well...

Might as well use it.

Once everything is set, she puts in the first batch!]

[booyaka_boom]

*Oh, good! At least Yukari found it. Selphie watches as she gets everything all put away, and she claps her hands as the oven is closed*

Yay! We did it!

[tsundyne]

We did! [a bit of a laugh] I guess now comes the hard part: waiting.

[Now that they've done it once, the other batches would go much faster!]

[booyaka_boom]

*Selphie crouches down in front of the oven and stares in, doing the waiting. Then something occurs to her and she jumps up*

Did we time when they went in?!

[tsundyne]

...!

[Oops. She's staring, too, but when Selphie asks the question, she perks up, alarmed.]

N-No! But it shouldn't be too late... [She starts messing with the panel to bring up the timer on the stove.] Quick, how long does it say we need?

[booyaka_boom]

Uh..

*Selphie quickly picks up the book and takes a proper look*

15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown... That's what it says!

[tsundyne]

[Silently, she sets it for fifteen minutes then, figuring that they can just add on more time if they need to. And then she lets out a sigh of relief.]

There we go. We'll be okay!
