Ah... I seem to have gotten a handle on this device... I think...

[Ioder peers closely at the SFC in his hand, head tilting slightly to the side thoughtfully. For all his confusion, he looks slightly bemused. His first couple of weeks in Vatheon have been... interesting, to say the least.]

My cousin, Estellise, informed me that I should make an introduction here. My name is Ioder and-- I've never kissed anyone, not in the 18 years I've been alive--

[The bemused expression is gone in a flash, replaced by wide green eyes and hands over his mouth, voice coming out muffled behind them]

O... oh... so this is that curse-- Sometimes when I'm alone, I sing silly songs to myself to pass the time, because days in the palace were just that lonely--

[His hands clench tighter, eyes closing. Eventually he manages enough composure to reach forward...]

Perhaps I should do this another time...

[and turn the device off before it gets any worse]

[realizes after saying that, this person might not have any idea what that is.]

They're beings in my world that, unlike normal monsters, had the ability to communicate with other humans and had powers unlike anything that had ever been seen before. Unfortunately... they're all but extinct now.

Huh. I can kind of relate to them then.

What happened to them?

At first... they were being hunted. Unfortunately it's something I'm not entirely clear on the details on. Though really as Emperor I should know these things, my council just felt it better to not keep me in the loop for selfish reasons when I was still just a candidate.

[a pause as he closes his eyes, biting back what would have been a swear.

Damn curse.]

In the end, though, they gave up their current forms to become spirits and aid in the restoration and salvation of our world.

Dang. Sounds like they gave up a lot. But at least they're still around as spirits or whatever, right?

According to my cousin, yes. I'm admittedly jealous of my cousin's ability to be connected to these things that I can't even see.

Not sure how to help with the jealousy part. You probably can do things or have things she doesn't.

You got to look on the bright side of things. Here we aren't bound by things back home. We're trapped but also free.
