[Wow, Darkleer is actually communicating with the network on a whole for once instead of being a miserable hermit. Must be a special occasion. Does anyone know his wiggling day?]

Now then. Have we all cleansed ourselves of the mess and done whatever strange death rituals foreign species feel the need to do?

[Okay, maybe it is just Darkleer being a coldhearted dick. Eh.]

I believe we should focus on the more important matter here. I have seen discussions scattered throughout the network, but it would be best to have all our thoughts and speculations focused in one place on both the destruction of those so-called faeries and on the recent appearance of that Carol individual.

For those of you who are oblivious and prone to missing the obvious, things are changing in this place. It would be best to be prepared.

[Don't be fooled, he's not doing this to be nice. He's doing what any troll knows to do: looking out for himself and the few he cares about. If that means even faintly working with others, well, he'll learn to deal.]

Since your children in particular seem to be taking this badly, perhaps it would benefit you to know that those things which followed us were nothing more than mere robots. The technology may have been organic in nature, but it was still nothing truly living. No pain, no loss of life.

Never it be said I was one to risk the safety of this city. My position as a doctor makes this one of my priorities. Carol did say that but refused to give any more information concerning any future events. Perhaps the faries exploding was a sign of things to come?

Perhaps it would be wise to alert whatever defense force we've managed to amass. Just in case, of course.

[ A beat. ]

Any and all assistance is welcome, even those skilled in non-conventional healing methods.

I have alerted the current leader of the defense force. As for Miss Carol... I believe she might disapprove of whatever actions are going to be taken next. She seemed to want to offer us help, but not so much so that she would put herself in danger.

You have been here much longer than I, Doctor. Please, if you know anyone else that might be helpful, direct them here. We must stick together.

Perhaps she did but I'm a little curious as to how much she knows, really. If this is some... experiment of sorts and she just an intern in a laboratory, as per my theories, they can't have told her the direct details.

As of October, I'd been here a year at the very least then I was taken back home. Give or take two months later, I was returned.

[ A brief pause to think. ]

There was a man by the name of Luka Redgrave who was researching the city a while back but he has yet to return. The city seems to have taken him back. However, I believe his notes are still around though I'm not quite sure as to who has them. There are also some documents that were found in the church, I believe? More than a year ago.

Luka Redgrave... thank you. I will look up his past open posts on the network and see who he was friendly with.

I did catch a snatch of his research, though and will be happy to tell you what I know. There were some speculations he did over the radio before.

[ A beat. Well, there's a thought. ]

That radio... perhaps you lot can make use of it in organizing the city should the need arise?

[She's taking out a notepad now... yes, she's taking notes.]

As far as I recall, he'd gone and tried to gather information along with the help of several others. They'd manage to pool a scant amount of observations, mostly concerning the coral and the curses.

Though the coral itself seems to be impervious to damage, it seems that there could be a possible connection between them and the fact that we're made to touch it at some point. Touching it restores our energy yet I can't find any medical evidence to support this. Though if we refrain from touching it, it seems we aren't affected by what curse befalls those who have. of course, this last part seems more guesswork than anything.

[ further pause, trying to remember. ]

There also seems to be a set time as to when newcomers arrive. Once a month, it seems, for a number of days and then it stops completely. Coupled with that, there seems to be a case of some falling asleep for extended periods of time without reason.

The coral is not entirely impervious to damage, though, is it? There are posts about it splitting in the past. It only seems to be impervious to damage from foreigners.

[She bites her lip. The ideas she has on that aren't exactly pleasant.]

Do you have much knowledge on out of body experiences?

It splits and darkens according to the city's will, it seems. If we could only take a small sample for study...

[ pressing fingers together as he thought a bit more. ]

I am familiar with the concept but I have no personal experience with it.

I have been thinking of possible explanations for our situation, and one that I keep coming back to... well, if only our minds or spirits are here, then time is not a problem, and neither is death.

[ An interesting theory... but it does have its holes. Then again, this was what these brainstorming sessions were for. ]

As possible as that sounds... I would have to wonder entirely on the basis of that theory. Some have sustained injuries upon entering the city, myself included. There have also been numerous cases of foreigners such as ourselves being injured in skirmishes with others.

If this was a case of a soul being transferred... would these injuries still apply?

The mind is a powerful thing. If we believed that we were hurt, that might turn out to be the case.

[She looks thoughtful.]

The fact that others can harm us does put some holes in it, though. Not if they had psychic powers. I'd have to observe a fight first hand to be able to tell.

I speak of the injuries some have sustained in the past... take for example those during the battle against the Kraken... or say the invasion of those ghost pirates.

[ A beat. Almost as if he was wondering whether to mention something or not. ]

Even skirmishes between us have lead to injuries.

It makes sense that we would be able to hurt each other. We are all pulled here in the same fashion, after all.

[She takes a breath.]

I'm sorry, I got off track. That is not particularly relevant at the moment, is it?

If you don't mind, I think I will drop by the clinic tomorrow and enchant the supplies you have for faster healing... just in case.

Not at all. This is actually quite an interesting thought. I'll have to consider this a moment more. Perhaps there could be some logic to this.

[ A beat. ]

It would be best if people had a safe area to retreat to, so I might put up a barrier of sorts as well if you don't mind. Around the clinic and perhaps the building closest to it, so that people who are hiding don't disturb any medical work?

I'm aware we have a few demons and other dark elementals in the city as well, so I would use a neutral element for this.

[She definitely remembers you, Muraki.]

Barriers aren't too alien an idea to me as I have erected a few in the past to prevent damage to the clinic.

[ Pause for consideration. If he could save energy on casting them... ]

However, I think it best for me to take you up on that offer. Can I expect you to join us here should any emergency arise?

Yes. My specialty is not in fighting, it is in defensive magic. I believe I would be well suited to the task of keeping a barrier in place.

[She might even be able to do it indefinitely. She hasn't tested the limits of the Triforce of Wisdom just yet.]

[ Well, that's a load off his mind. Having a barrier up can leave him free for more offensive measures should the need arise. ]

Yes, Zelda is correct. And don't worry, doctor. I am used to having some noise going on around me while I try to work. You should be able to run the clinic as usual, it will not disturb me. I will be over tomorrow to do some preparations, then.

[She smiles pleasantly and waves.]

((OOC: we can thread it out or just handwave that she goes and enchants the bandages/thread/ointments and puts some glyphs up for barriers. With that much magic he'd notice her Triforce, but if he wouldn't ask then a handwave is fine~))
