Well this is new. It's not every day I get kidnapped. And to think, today was going so well too.

[After a few moments a petite red-head of a scientist appears on the screen with trees in the background. She looks less then thrilled. It wasn't everyday Washu came across things she couldn't manipulate and here she's encountered two in less than five minutes. Either someone out there was one hell of a genius or it will take a little longer than usual to try and figure her way out of this.]

Considering how well kept this place is, there must be intelligent lifeforms out here somewhere. So can someone tell me what's going on?

You would need to work. There's any number of jobs here - some run by locals, others created and run by foreigners like ourselves.

I work for the Vatheon Defense Force, as a sentry leader for the Carnival Quadrant and a trainer. There's also no restriction on how many jobs one can hold, so long as they're not exhausting themselves. The coral does help with a certain level of rejuvenation, but if you're working yourself nonstop it's likely you'll wear yourself out before you ever make it there.

Then my first thing to do after finding a place to live is find a job. This is starting to sound like my days after graduating from the academy.

Well in that case, I suppose it's good you have some experience.

However, I would advise not letting that become an excuse to get your guard down.

[His expression turns even more serious than usual, and he pushes his glasses up, the glare momentarily hiding his eyes.]

We recently had a string of murders, and victims that were more fortunate in that they were merely kidnapped and experimented on and survived. The killer has since been apprehended, but that certainly doesn't mean that others won't try something similar on their own.

It's a good thing I never let my guard down then. Do things like that happen often around here or was it an isolated case?

I wouldn't say "often", but there have been enough occurrences to keep the defense force on their toes. The string of kidnappings and murders were all connected to one man, this time around.

Can I ask who that was so I know who to avoid?

His name is Doctor Riffael, however he's currently under house arrest.

I will warn you, it's an odd case, should you ever run in to him. It seems - or he at least claims - to have multiple personalities, and one of them was responsible for the murders. The man - or personality, if you will - we currently have in custody claims to be the 'sane' one, and seems to have suppressed the murderous one for the time being.

Multiple personalities huh? Well I guess that's one way to get away with murder. Though, he might be interesting to study in a way.

Oh well~, its none of my business.

If you choose to make it your business in order to study him, I'm certain there are those who would be willing to accommodate on the basis that it's a purely intellectual study.

Truly, anything that helps us further understand Vatheon and our fellow residents from other worlds is more often welcomed than shunned.

Then I'll keep that in mind for after I'm settled. I'll need something to keep me busy~. A genius should never be without work.

Naturally. An intelligent mind must always be at it's best, just the same as any weapon must be skillfully crafted and any skill honed to perfection.

I couldn't agree more. Now lets just hope this place allows me to exercise my intellect as much as I hope it will.

I'm certain it will, sooner or later. There are fairly mundane days, but interesting things do happen from time to time.

As long as things are kept interesting, I think I'll manage~.
