[He'd been meaning to do this for a while, but with all that's happened.... Now seems like a good enough time to him. Who knows, maybe it'll cheer someone up. ...Actually, he kinda doubts it'd cheer someone up, but oh well. Too late to go back, really.]

I caught a badger. [He bites his tongue to keep from continuing - Want to let it go on the village green/plaza and watch the girls run? Sure he's used to being away from the other two, but...they'd actually all been here for a little while, the first time in about two years. Sure he'd seen Perrin before he arrived - Light, he'd even said the same thing he's saying now! - but it wasn't the same, really.

Right, he hadn't even told anyone they'd left...]

....And Rand and Perrin went back to our world a bit ago.

Sorry that we never got around to teaching you when Rand was still here. I can still teach you songs if you want, but I don't know how to play them on instruments.

[The feed cuts on a little too quickly. Yukari was still thinking about what she wanted to say to him, regarding his two friends, so needless to say, she's a little unprepared-- but she manages not to stammer like an idiot somehow.

She's got a filtered message to address anyway.]

Yeah, of course. Sure. [She takes in a breath, and then exhales slowly, finding herself unable to refuse a new bow.] Sorry about Rand and Perrin.

[It's not like she doesn't know how it feels.]

Alright. I'll still need your help for that though, since it'd be for you.

[He's not happy that they're gone, but...at least if they went back they're with (one of in Rand's case) their wives. Blood and ashes, that still makes him jealous of them! Rand had seen Mat's more recently than he had...

He lets out a sorta harsh laugh.]

You don't need to apologize. Perrin...the Perrin that was here anyway, he was from my past. If they or anyone else shows up, maybe they'll be from my future this time. [He tries to sound cheerful about that. It's not that hard, but...if they were from his future, and they had to tell him about how many losses the Band had suffered during Tarmon Gai'don...that doesn't sound good. And it'd only be good if the other person who showed up was Egwene, one of Rand's Aiel like Aviendha, or...scratch that, it'd only be good if it was Tuon, a member of the Band, or one of his two friends who just left. And maybe Birgitte.]

[She recognizes that laugh. She's given that laugh plenty of times herself, especially after what happened to Minato: that kind of forced laughter that you give just to make people think everything's okay and leave you alone. Either way, Yukari doesn't like to pry, so she won't dwell on the topic for too long.

She does listen, though. She nods, because she'd definitely love to have a hand in making her own bow--

Maybe . . . [Heh. She's not sure whether she should be encouraging him to hope for that or not.] I mean, it-- it can be really weird, dealing with a friend who doesn't quite remember the same things you do.

But you'll find a way past it.

[He laughs a little, sounding more natural this time.]

It was weird already, when I had to tell Perrin about everything that happened again. And he left out details about what happened back in our world when he told Rand and me here! [Yes, he does sound sort of insulted. Perrin tells him more back at the inn in Caemlyn than he does where no one would eavesdrop or be able to use the knowledge against them when they leave? It makes him wonder what was so important about the time between that makes him more willing to talk...]

The weirdness passes, right?

[Well, laughter is a good sign, she thinks. She can tell it sounds a bit more natural at least, and the fact that he's opened up a bit about it is a good sign, too.

. . . So she eases a little, and it feels a lot less like she's walking on eggshells. Thank goodness.]

Of course it will. It sounds like it already did, once. [Judging on that little story, and his fond laughter as he thinks back on it.]

It's just a matter of getting everyone on the same page, and staying there.

[That sounds like the flaming Colors...Getting everyone on the same page and keeping them there. Not that he's seen the Colors since he showed up here. Why is that anyway?]

It's easier getting on the same page when you talk about it rather than just wait around. [Or get bloody visions of one of the other two whenever you think or say anything about them...]

Let me know when you want to start working on your bow. I don't exactly have a lot to do.

[. . . Yeah, he can say that again. Communication is key, isn't it? That'd kind of been a problem among her group too; everyone was pretty close, but they all still had their own lives.

Waiting around-- that's not something she's willing to do anymore.]

Right. Well -- I haven't been too busy either lately, so we could meet as soon as tomorrow if ya really wanted.

He's waited about a month to open a letter just so he wouldn't be caught in a plan. When he finds out what the contents of that letter actually are, he's likely to agree.]

I'm fine with that. I could show you how far along Rand and mine are too, if you'd like. I managed to find something for Perrin too, so his is actually finished.

[Even though Rand and Perrin aren't around anymore, she's not too surprised that he'd want to finish their bows anyway; so she just nods. She wouldn't mind seeing what they look like-- and besides, it'd be a good idea to have them waiting in case either of them actually returned.]

Whatever you've got, I'd love to see it.

[Exactly. And they'd probably do the same if he'd left instead. Hrm...He needs to think about that for a moment.]

The plaza? Unless you know where the Winespring is. [He doesn't remember if he told her...And showing her the finished bow before going off to get wood for hers sounds like a good idea after all.]

[She thinks about it for a moment too, but in the end, doesn't remember him mentioning it. So she'll just go with option A.]

You did a good job with Tinker in the Kitchen, so it should still work. I can try humming the part Rand'd play too, for the ones I don't know the words to.

Oh - it uses different instruments? [Hmm. He's not sure he'd be able to do them all on his ocarina...] We can ask Sola and Zelda! They can play music.

Some of them, but usually you can merge the parts into one. It's sort of based on skill - Thom would teach me a simpler way, Rand a more difficult way, and he'd play something different.

Oh - that could be kind of useful. I guess it also depends on how many notes you can play, right? [Ocarinas only play so many octaves.]

Yeah, and what instrument you're good at. Rand learned the flute from Thom, I was just given drums, and Thom played his harp. So most of the time Rand and Thom were the ones who played, I'd either sing or juggle. I was good at that. Juggling I mean.

I can only play the ocarina. [He sounds a bit embarrassed at that.] But it'd be fun to play more!

[He laughs.]

You don't need to be embarrassed! I don't think I could play an ocarina. [Not...that he really knows what one is.] Thom'd probably say my fingers are too slow. And I don't think I can help you learn how to play more.

Well, that's okay. Maybe I can ask Zelda to teach me to play her harp. [And just... try not to think about Sheik when he does.]

No harm in asking! [Unless it brings back painful memories or just sad memories.] Maybe she's as protective of her harp as Thom is, maybe not.

Yeah - it's worth a try, right? It'd be nice knowing more musical instruments.

Yeah. It'd give you more options for what to play, at least. Still...I don't think you should try to learn multiple instruments at once. [It's like when you learn how to fight - you choose one weapon and stick with it until you master it or get close before learning how to use another. That way you get more options and are good at all of them instead of really good at one and kinda bad at everything else.]
