Sure he's used to being away from the other two, but...they'd actually all been here for a little while, the first time in about two years. Sure he'd seen Perrin before he arrived - Light, he'd even said the same thing he's saying now! - but it wasn't the same, really.

Right, he hadn't even told anyone they'd left...]

You don't need to be embarrassed! I don't think I could play an ocarina. [Not...that he really knows what one is.] Thom'd probably say my fingers are too slow. And I don't think I can help you learn how to play more.

Yeah - it's worth a try, right? It'd be nice knowing more musical instruments.

Yeah. It'd give you more options for what to play, at least. Still...I don't think you should try to learn multiple instruments at once. [It's like when you learn how to fight - you choose one weapon and stick with it until you master it or get close before learning how to use another. That way you get more options and are good at all of them instead of really good at one and kinda bad at everything else.]

[Or, in Link's case, find a new weapon, be forced to master it over the span of a few hours, then keep using it while also having to learn new ones at the same time. Oh, Hyrule.]

Yeah. Not sure if you'd do it, but it's possible to blank on what you're supposed to do. Then, either you try the wrong thing or you get it right.

[And the more things you just started the easier it is to mix them up. Or in his case the more memories that aren't yours you have, the easier it is to forget that they aren't yours and let something slip.]

Oh... I guess. I used to play wrong notes sometimes when I was learning to play the ocarina.

Yeah. It seems like learning multiple instruments at the same time would make it more likely to play wrong notes. [Not. that he really knows apart from forgetting what few fingerings Thom taught him before stopping because "his fingers are too clumsy". (Teach him how you will, a pig can never play a flute).]

[He nods thoughtfully.] It takes a long time to remember where your fingers have to be for the notes. Now I don't even think about it. If you were learning lots, you'd have to remember lots, too!

Exactly. And if you make it so you get to the level where you don't really have to think to play before picking another up, it'll be loads easier. [Common sense, really.]

If you want! It sounds to me that an ocarina would already be fairly hard, so it'd either be an easier or harder instrument next. Depends on how much of a flaming challenge you want.

Mostly. There are somethings I didn't want to know after I'd been told them; I think the same can happen with learning things.
