Video: Public Service Princess

It seems as if the arrival cycle is over now. Allow me to extend a belated welcome to everyone who was pulled into Vatheon this past cycle. My name is Zelda, and I work with the Welcoming Committee here. Please drop by if you have any questions about our current situation as foreigners in the city. You are also free to ask me here, though there are some topics I would prefer to not discuss over the network.

I would also like to encourage new arrivals that are capable of fighting to look into joining the Defense Force. While things are generally peaceful here, there are some dangerous situations from time to time. [If only Second Link would show up, then Zelda might learn how to shrink people down to mouse size and he could have giant cakes and Brisby-mama hugs whenever he wanted! As it is, she can change the size and shape of things somewhat, but drastic reduction in living tissue is difficult for her. Summoner's horns are about the extent of her shrinking abilities.]

[Zelda waves, turning off the feed and leaving a note in the Welcome Center stating that she'll be out for awhile and to call her if needed. It seems a little rude to not at least leave contact details after a posting like this, after all! Since she was already out and about, it only takes her a few minutes to reach the grocery store.]

[Life would be even more beautiful than it is already. And life is pretty damn wondrous here.

He doesn't particularly rush to the store, just goes about his own casual way. He isn't one for rushing, but that is something that Zelda should be well aware of by now. As such, he is definitely the later of the two to arrive, already sticking up one hand once he is able to spot her figure waiting for him.]

Heeey, my good sister. You fuckin' made it.

[She's already retrieved a basket to put things in at this point. Zelda raises one hand to return the wave, smiling.]

Of course! I was not terribly far. Shall we?

[The princess opens the door to the super market. This is a serious mission, Gamzee. Don't forget any of the ingredients!]

I was not sure what sort of cake we would be making, so I did not bring a list...

[Bad life choices, Zelda.]

[Terrible ones. But fun ones!

Gamzee happily trails at her side, folding his arms loosely behind his head.]

No worries there, ain't no biggie. We can just all like figure some shit what we wanna be makin' at the spot, yeah?

[He gives a smile, and a shrug.]

If some shit all does go missin' on us, we can go and get it later.

Isn't it bad to leave partially mixed ingredients sitting out?

[She'll go along with it anyway, snagging a basket to start putting ingredients in. Eggs obviously, and sugar... she already has Lon-Lon milk in her sylladex, this no-name variety clearly isn't up to par. Vanilla... maybe powdered sugar for frosting?]

My friend prefers sweets that are not too terribly artificial. What sort do you think might be good?

[Is that bad? Gamzee doesn't know if it is bad. He basically has a concrete stomach and half-dead tastebuds so he survives everything.

He does think on that though. Luckily, he's hooked up with a guy who can go for sweets every day if needed. Yes. Karkat's sweet-tooth is finally coming in handy.]

Uhhh, hmm, like what about fruit? Fruits are sweet. And they ain't none of that motherfuckin' artificial bizz.

He seems fine with fruit. He even made us all pies for Christmas! Perhaps some berries... do you know any recipes that use raspberries?

[They're a cute berry, and very vigorous. Since Duke travels around a lot it's likely he had them frequently.

Besides, she thinks they would go well with cream cheese. You can't go wrong with cream cheese.]

Yeah, sure! I think we can manage that wicked noise for sure.

[Well, he knows some recipes with fruits. And like... you can just put one fruit for another fruit, right? Baking is pretty magical like that. And hey, if it doesn't work out, they can just redo it, no biggie.]

[Baking is NOT magical like that! Zelda would be appalled if she could read his mind. Zelos tells her all the time that she can wing it too, but she never believes him and follows the recipes exactly.]

Oh, good.

[Adding those too, then! And the cream cheese. And a few other things she feels like they might need.]

Do you think this may be enough?

[Zelda would certainly be appalled if she could read his mind! Not only does he think about straying away from set recipes but something he even thinks about

boners]

Seems like.

[He pats her shoulder.]

No harm done if we all did forget something. Ain't a motherfuckin' hardship at all to come back at this place for a bit.

[Not boners, Gamzee. Don't ever think about the boners. If you ignore them, they just go away!]

If you say so.

[She sounds more than a little unsure as she moves to transfer all the items to bags, meticulously sorting the ingredients - dry ingredients in one bag, the eggs in their own bag, the fruit in another... she may have a bit of a need to organize things, but that's all right. It makes her happy.]

[Just because you don't like thinking about ~~Guy's~~ boners, doesn't mean Gamzee doesn't occasionally likes to let his mind stray into such regions.

but not on Guy's boners, of course, cause that would be kinda weird seeing as he has never really met the guy. But, you know, other boners.

Yeah.

[He leans against the bagging area, motioning a little with his hands. He doesn't interrupt her though. Personally, he'd just chuck everything in a bunch of bags, maybe even just chuck those bags in his sylladex. Certainly no rhyme or reason to it like she is doing.]

Like... anyone got their own motherfuckin' pace to go at to things, yeah? Don't feel like it's a biggie if it does take longer for some peeps to do what they gotta be doing.

[The princess shoulders the bags, glancing to him.]

That is true here especially, I suppose. There is no harm in taking your time.

[She still doesn't like to waste time uselessly, though. They wouldn't need a return trip if Gamzee brought a recipe! Oh, she probably should have, but he said he'd be willing to teach her.

Somehow, it's only occurring to her now that Gamzee almost certainly follows the "just wing it" method of baking. Zelda clears her throat, heading for the door.]

[Gamzee doesn't offer to help carry the bags. Not that he'd mind to, the thought simply doesn't cross his mind. Were she to tell him to, or to ask, he'd gladly help, but as is, he's just rather oblivious.

And as she starts for the door, he follows.]

Feels like there be way too many motherfuckers what never get to taking a lil' chill, you know? Always motherfuckin' rushing and worrying and shit. Makes you forget what kinda beautiful fuckin' stuff be right in front of your bulbs.

[She doesn't mind carrying them, anyway. She's the one who wanted to learn to make a nice birthday cake, so she should do some of the physical work.]

I take it you are a "stop and smell the roses" sort, then?

[It suits him. There's something to be said for the way Gamzee lives, taking things as they come and appreciating what he has in the moment. Not everyone can live that way, of course - if a disaster ever befell them, there would be no one planning for their safety - but it's nice to see regardless.]

Yeah! Gotta be in the motherfuckin' moment, right? Be where your heart be fuckin' at, yo. Else you get to being so all about worrying and worrying on tomorrow, you ain't even ever get to fuckin' enjoy today.

More people should live with that in mind.

[Surely there's a balance between the two very different ways of living. She just hasn't found it, yet. Even though Gamzee is the one following, it seems like they're still making steady progress back towards his hive.

Also, you know, it is a bubble. There is only so many places he can live, and it is not exactly like the chocobo-horse stables are any sort of subtle.]

So, who's the bro what you be wanting to pie up at? What's he like?

Duke? He is very quiet, highly intelligent. He has trouble talking to people, but he is quite kind. You can tell from the way the animals all like him so much. He can be a little forgetful too - I think if I let him, he'd just read his books all day and forget to eat!

[She's obviously very fond of him. Too fond, considering the fact that she's seeing someone. Don't call her out on it, please.]

[He won't. He's Gamzee, after all. It's not like dating Karkat for a year has transferred Karkat's romantic skills onto him via romance osmosis. That would just be whack.

And if anything, he'd peg it for a pale thang, anyway.]

Sounds like my good bro Tavros. Ain't all like to be a fuckin' beast what does be walking this motherfuckin' world like what don't take a shine to the motherfucker, I reckon. Except the book thing. That's be more like Karkat's fuckin' schtick there. Brother can get real locked down all on what the letter be speaking to him about.

[Not Gamzee though. He likes books with pictures. That pop up. And move.

Books can be quite fascinating. I get a bit lost in them myself! But at least I remember to eat.

[There's fondness in her voice even if there's irritation present too. Duke's habits are a bit cute, really.

Her arms are getting a bit tired, so Zelda's glad that the store is a relatively central location and Gamzee's hive is just on the horizon.]

Here we are! Should I take off my shoes once we get inside?

Yeah. Wataru always did used to do that.

[It's not a habit he sticks to completely faithfully, nor does he expect it of others. But when reminded of it, it is actually nicer to go around without shoes on, isn't it? Give your footstubs some breathing air and all.]

[Zelda slips off her heels when she steps inside. Her feet aren't completely bare since she still has stockings, but she's less likely to scuff up the floor this way. Unfortunately, this makes her even shorter in comparison to the towering teen.]

I've met a few people who prefer it, and it does help keep the floor clean. Where is the kitchen?

Said it was like how they motherfuckin' worked shit where he was at.

[He kicks off his own sneakers. He doesn't even notice her losing a little bit of height. He already towers so much over her that going from short to slightly shorter is just nothing that catches his eye.]

[Zelda has noticed that the scientists seem to have some sort of obsession for pulling humans from Japan, so she's studied the culture a bit.
