this might sound silly but could i have a hug?

[ She's not really directing this at anybody in particular. She just found out parts of her family are no longer here and she's ... not handling it too well. She'll take a hug from anyone willing to give one. ]

[ She accepts and returns the hug almost as soon as Yukari pulls her into it. She doesn't immediately feel better, but she starts to feel it as the hug continues. ]

[She can feel Kohaku ease up a little. It's a start, she supposes, so she keeps it up for a while longer until they're both comfortable with breaking away.

When they do, there'll be a small grin on Yukari's face. Maybe she's hoping it'll be contagious.]

[ It is, a little. Kohaku can't help but smile back at her as she sees Yukari's grin. ]

Hey ...

[That's just encouraging enough to give Yukari the strength to ask.]

So . . . what happened?

[ She sighs, slumping a little. ]

I've had a lot of friends leave this place all at around the same time. I just found out Mitsuhide left. Motochika and Gracia seemed to have gone with him, too.

It happens, though, right?

[ It doesn't make it any less sad. ]

[. . . No, that it doesn't. Yukari knows that well enough, and her expression changes ever so slightly as Kohaku answers; but she doesn't look surprised.]

Too often if you ask me . . .

Trust me, I know.

[None of her friends from Port Island are left now. Idly, she wonders if it would've been harder or easier if they'd simply left all at once.]

Yeah ...

So I really shouldn't be reacting like this. It's not like it's the first time someone I really cared about has left this place, right?

[ She attempts a smile again. ]

I should be happy that I was able to meet them at all.

. . . You're right, you should be. But that doesn't mean you can't be sad, too, that they're gone.

[The funny thing about emotions is that they can blend together like that and really mess you up. It feels like she's parroting the words of others at this point, but she doesn't mind, as long as it helps.]

Did . . . they leave anything behind? I think it's a little easier to deal with when you have a piece of them you can hold onto.
