Accidental Video

*There's a blur on the screen as it seems the SFC is moved from one pair of hands to another. When the image finally settles, it is tilted at an angle. Most of the image appears to be a boring bedside table with a jug of water on, and the frame of a boring bed, similar to what might be seen in a hospital. A smaller section of the screen shows half of someone's pale face, the eyes covered with bandages. The only thing that might identify this person are some flicks of brown hair, sitting above a shoulder in a hospital gown. The SFC is moved again, showing this unhappy figure in a bed, before the feed flickers out*

Life had little meaning to her, huh...? *Exactly just what was Selphie is scared of. And she's scared of it enough that at the moment it's just about overriding those creeping feelings of jealousy*

Well..you're good at that, cheering other people up. So..that's good..

[Aya could sense that Selphie is still feeling uncertain about her condition.] Just like her, you have a lot of potential, and you shouldn't doubt that. [They were at least halfway to their neighborhood at this point.]

[booyaka_boom]

*Sorry Aya, but Selphie all but nearly laughs at that, shaking her head against his shoulder* You think so? Doing what?

*It would kill her not to be able to fight again, or do most things again. But then, she does wonder if she can play her guitar just the same... She nuzzles up against his jaw slightly*

Where are we now? Not too far to go?

[formerabyssinian]

Anything you want. Maybe you could try riding a motorcycle. [He was joking, of course, but he still chuckles a bit.]

[At how Selphie nuzzles him, Aya hues and tries to concentrate on answering her question.] We're more than halfway there. The shops are getting fewer as we get to our area. Did you want anything before we get back?

*Selphie laughs a little at that too* I can't think of anything more dangerous to other people! But I bet I'd be a good little biker chick.

So long as you've got plenty of tea, I should be okay. *Though, of course, in her time of need, her instincts tell her she'd also like a huge slice of chocolate cake. But, since Aya doesn't really do sweet things, and since it would require some amount of feeding, she doesn't mention it*

Well, there's time to think on that later.

[He raises an eyebrow, then remembers that Selphie couldn't see that. So he makes his curiosity more obvious.] Hmm? Only tea?

[booyaka_boom]

*Selphie holds the bag slightly closer to herself, and nods. Besides, she doesn't want to sent Aya anywhere else to fetch her cake when he's already nearly carried her all the way home*

Yup! Just tea!

[formerabyssinian]

You know you can't survive off just tea, right?

[The gates to their community is just ahead, and they open automatically for them.]

[booyaka_boom]

Well, sure I can't! But for now, tea will be fine. Maybe I'll try get out the house later...

*Because she will be so determined to do things for herself, including somehow shopping for groceries*

[Can she feel that judging look?]

When you're feeling better, sure.

*Actually, she almost can. She gives the tiniest kick of her legs, almost like her way of giving a disapproving kind of look*

Okay. Sure. When I'm better.

[formerabyssinian]

[Aya smiles softly and continues toward their destination. The house is only a few feet away, and that is where Aya stops completely.]

We're not that far now. Do you want to walk to the door?

[booyaka_boom]

*Selphie sits up slightly in his arms and holds her bag of medical supplies carefully*

Uhm...How far? I'll make it okay without tripping, right?

*Because the last thing she wants to do is make a fool of herself for trying*

[formerabyssinian]

About ten feet. I won't let you trip. [He begins to set her onto her feet, making sure she could hold onto his arm or hand if needed.]

[booyaka_boom]

Alright...

*She can do this. She has to do this, and prove that she can still do something for herself. Selphie wobbles slightly on her feet, but rests a hand against his arm to steady herself. Then, holding tightly onto the bag, she makes a few careful steps forward, and some more, one hand outstretched, until her palm hits the door and she stops*

I did it!

[formerabyssinian]

[Aya walks behind her, close enough to help if she falls, but giving her enough space. It's a good accomplishment, and a small step in building up her self esteem.]

You did. [He takes out his keys and unlocks the door.] This may be a bit more challenging. [Aya links his hand with hers as he steps inside.] Do you remember where things are from before?

[booyaka_boom]

*Selphie turns and offers a smile to Aya, clearly pleased that he has recognised the good work she's done thus far. Any more than that was scary though, so she was glad to feel Aya's hand with hers*

Uhm... I think so?

*Only, she seems to have forgotten the small step that leads into the house, and manages to trip quite impressively*

[She sure did. Aya reacts quickly and wraps an arm around her middle, catching Selphie before she could fall to the floor.]

There's a step there... [He helps her stand upright again.] There aren't anymore, though.

[booyaka_boom]

*There's a moment where she takes a deep breath - Selphie's silent and she shakes, almost as though she's about to burst into tears. This first trip is likely the start of many difficulties. But instead, she exhales slowly and stands upright*

Oh..okay. Where do I go now...? Straight ahead, just a little, right?

[formerabyssinian]

[He couldn't coddle her. Her train of thought is right, this may be the first of many difficulties, but Aya's sure she'll get through them.]

Yes, the wall curves to the right, and there's a door coming soon.

[booyaka_boom]

*Again, Selphie just wants to drop in the middle of the floor and weep. This whole thing is just horrifying. But she swallows her pride and keeps going, arms stretched out ahead of her*

O-okay... So..where are we going..?

[formerabyssinian]

There's an empty room there. It's not getting any use, so you can stay there. It has its own bathroom, too. [He's still following her, close by just in case.]

[booyaka_boom]

*Selphie manages to keep herself going until her hand hits said door, fingers tentatively moving to the door handle. But she turns around, nothing much to convey her fear while her eyes are covered, other than the strain in her voice*

You're not...You're not just going to leave me here...?

[formerabyssinian]

[Aya comes closer, placing a hand onto her shoulder gently.] Never. My room is across the hall. About five steps. You can come in anytime.

[booyaka_boom]

*About five steps, he said, and Selphie sighs as she appreciates his ways of helping her out. That hand on her shoulder has made her feel more steady too*

Thanks... And, thank you for everything. You have no idea how much better I feel... I really, really appreciate you looking after me...

*They're already standing pretty close, but Selphie shuffles forward, standing that little bit closer. She leans up, fully intending on giving Aya a small kiss on the cheek by way of thanks. But, given that she can't see, Selphie misjudges the distance, and her kiss instead lands softly on the corner of his lips*
