If you didn't get one of the big prizes at the festival yet--

[It's nighttime when the camera adjusts toward one side of the room where there are several stuffed sharks, stars, and turtles in a big pile. Upon closer inspection, however, you'll be able to see that this isn't one of the regular bedrooms in the dome, but a practically bleach white hospital room.]

[... He doesn't sound as enthusiastic as he could be about that, however. But, really, if you want one of these things, by all means just come back and get it. There's a brief blur of Axel's face which doesn't stay long enough for anyone to really get a good look at him, but just in case, he's definitely got a split lip and a gauze bandage over his right temple. There's some more shifting when his door opens and one of the happiest looking nurses in the world comes in to check on him.]

How's that hand feeling?

So long as it won't deprive you of what you need, then, that's a survivable enough ailment.

[Ky's the kind of person who can barely convince himself to stop for a meal, so it's important that he gets as much nutrition as he needs that way. Of course, with his metabolism, spurred on in large part by his status as a magic user, it still might not be enough. But that's an entirely separate issue, really.

The real point is that he's entirely in earnest, that he thinks Axel should be fine with the food so long as it's nutritious.]

[Axel looks over to the other side of the room where he's pretty much left that tray of food untouched since the nurse brought it in a couple of hours ago. Yeah. He'd rather not.]

Mm. I think I'd just rather not eat.

That doesn't sound like a very good solution. Do you need food brought to you?

Not so sure visiting hours are still going on.

[Pout. And you wouldn't sneak in would you, Ky? Would you?]

Perhaps in the morning, then.

Or if I can talk to the nurse and persuade them that this is important to your health.

I think she might just get pissed.

[He sighs then with a little shrug settles back against his pillows. At least these are fairly comfortable.]

So, what've you been up to? Got a chance to check out the festival when it was going on?

[He just flops back against his pillows and shifts around to try and get himself more comfortable. Unfortunately in doing so, Axel ends up bumping his injured wrist against the side of the bed and winces just a bit.]

Ah-- Right. Rest and exercise and all that jazz.

I'm sure you'll be up to that sort of thing again in no time.

[That's what makes Axel sound less than enthused, right?]

Within a couple weeks, yeah. Not really looking forward to that much waiting.

How did you get injured?

[He looks at his injured arm again then shrugs.]

It was nothing.

[He knows you're part of the defense force and all... and he doesn't want Saix getting in trouble for it.]

It clearly wasn't that.

[Ky can understand injuries in certain contexts, but he hasn't been given any sort of context at all for this.]

I just got a little bit clumsy.

[Which isn't entirely a lie. He just really doesn't want to make this out to be a huge deal.]

I might believe that if it were just your hand, but your facial injuries don't look quite like that.

I told you. I got clumsy. Tripped and fell all over myself down a few flights of stairs.

[He's lying, yeah, but.]
