Day 160 - [Video]

[Roxas appears on the screen, looking unsure of himself for a moment before taking a breath.]

Um... I wanted to apologize to a couple people for last week. I said some stupid things and- it was probably really frustrating.

I've been thinking about having some things of my own, and... I think the last day of summer would be good for a birthday. It still seems weird to just pick, but- I guess I've gotta turn 16 sometime.

[He pauses, looking like he has something else he wants to say, but his cheeks pink a bit and he just turns off the feed.]

... Yeah. [Oh dear] It'll be fun.

[Axel still doesn't seem too sure of that, but since he's decided to go anyway...]

Yeah. It will be.

[He'll make sure of it, okay?]

[He's sure! Honest! Axel finally manages a smirk for Roxas. A normal smirk this time.]

So, lemme guess. You've gotta dress up to go to this thing, right?

[That's sounding a little better.]

Right. Not sure you could get away with the coat.

Hmm. [Think think] What're you gonna wear?

Um, it's kind of like a suit... [Except not so much?]

I could show you.

Sure; you have it with you? [Yes, this is good! Keep making small talk like this and we'll be ok.]

Yeah.

[The feed wobbles as Roxas gets up and goes over to his closet, and after a bit of shuffling, he turns the camera to show that outfit there on the left.]

[Oh dear, wobbling. Axel watches anyway and when the camera steadies to show the outfit he lets out a little laugh.]

Wow. That's different. [And he means that in a nice way, dude!] You're really goin' all out on this thing, huh.

You think?

[He just got it through the host club... Is it too much?]

Some of the other guys have fancier stuff.

Ah, sometimes it's better to not be too fancy, you know? [He waves a hand through the air.]

Heck, a shirt and pants would work just fine.

Is that all you're gonna wear?

[Sounds lazy. Roxas heads back over to his bed and plops down, and then the feed steadies again.]

Well... maybe not. [Way to take your own advice, Axel.] Ah, I'll figure something out. Shouldn't be too hard.

Not with everything being free.

[Axel dressed up... It's probably clear from the look on his face and the faint blush that he's trying to picture it.]

[Is this what you have in mind, Roxas?]

Hm.

[Geez, the things he does for his friends. Axel thinks for a while about what he could wear before he sees that distant look on Roxas' face and he tilts his head.]

You all right?

[Something like that. Maybe with the tie loosened...]

Huh?

O-oh, yeah, of course.

[Stop that, Roxas. You're not supposed to start thinking about your big makeout session.]

[... He can loosen everything instead.]

Oh.

[He rubs his neck.]

So, uh. Your birthday--You mentioned that, right?

[Thankfully his brain didn't get that far or he'd be a lot redder right now.]

Yeah! Um, some people are gonna throw me a party. You'll come, too, right? It- should be a lot smaller.

Yeah, 'course. [He manages a genuine smile at this idea.] Y'know, I haven't really... thought about our birthdays that much.

I take it that you're not sharing your birthday with Sora, then.

[Not that he minds. The last day of summer--Somehow that fits Roxas.]

Nah. I... kind of wanted one for myself.

What about you?

Well, it suits you.

[Ah, now that question. It's one that Demyx has talked about with him before. And it's... strange. He hasn't really thought about it just because it hasn't been important.]

I guess mine's already passed if we're talkin' about Lea's birthday, too. [But--] Dunno. Guess it's just not that important to me.

I think it sounds nice though. Having a day for yourself.

Maybe when you get older, it starts to feel less nice. [... Maybe because he's, like, twenty more years away from having a midlife crisis. OH GOD.]

Ah, whatever. Maybe I'll figure mine out eventually.

Oh... [But Roxas just looks sort of confused by that. It's not like Axel has lost the ability to enjoy ice cream cake and friends.]

Well- let me know when you do, 'cause we'll have to do something.
