Well this is new. It's not every day I get kidnapped. And to think, today was going so well too.

[After a few moments a petite red-head of a scientist appears on the screen with trees in the background. She looks less then thrilled. It wasn't everyday Washu came across things she couldn't manipulate and here she's encountered two in less than five minutes. Either someone out there was one hell of a genius or it will take a little longer than usual to try and figure her way out of this.]

Considering how well kept this place is, there must be intelligent lifeforms out here somewhere. So can someone tell me what's going on?

Well, I very easily could, but a more simple way to learn about Vatheon would be to read the pamphlet. Have the locals directed you to the welcoming committee yet?

That depends, do welcoming committees usually hang around forests? Otherwise, yes, I read the pamphlet but would like confirmation. I wouldn't be a very good scientist if I took things at face value now would I.

Well, most of what it says is true. We have been indeed taken from multiple universes and worlds into this city, somehow through the power of the coral Lamufao. We are subject to experiments and observation by a group of scientists who are unreachable at this point in time.

Most of the things in Vatheon are free to us so long as we show the natives the tattoo which is somewhere on our person. The only exception is the Nostalgia Quarter, which carries goods from our worlds.

Is there anything else you need to know?

Experiments huh? What kind of experiments are we talking about here?

For the most part, the curses seem to be their favored type. Just recently, before you arrived, the individuals of the city were subject to bodily changes. Some became full blown animals, while a few others could still speak in that form. Others only had certain animal attributes- ears and a tail, or wings and antennae.

Other times, we have had things such a bubbles which followed us and displayed our thoughts. They can take all sorts of forms.

There's only be one occurrence when they interfered with us directly.

So far what you've described appears to be harmless by my standards of experimentation. Is there any way to avoid being affected by these 'curses'?

...And care to explain that 'one occurrence' a little more?

Please do tell that to the mice we had who were being plagued by cats. Unfortunately, there is no way to avoid the curses. Some are unaffected, but many more must deal with them for a week.

Our one occurrence happened almost a year ago- we just need another week or so for it to be its anniversary. The scientists kidnapped individuals from the city and... did something to them. Personality changes, of some sort. I am afraid I was not awake for that period of time. Their memories were wiped, and most were only able to give a little bit of information on what had happened.

Compared to some of the experiments I've seen, mice and cats are still rated as harmless.

However that isn't.

I guess I better be on my guard for these little experiments. But that doesn't explain why I can't remove the tattoo. It's a little strange, but not really a huge thing. It's just worrying that someone would take advantage of my young and beautiful body like that~.

I'm sure the mice would disagree, but everything is relevant, isn't it?

The tattoo is permanent, I'm afraid. I've done some digging of my own, and it goes all the way down to bone. I suspect that even if one cut off the limb it were attached to, it would reappear elsewhere. That seems like the kind of thing Vatheon would do.

Besides, it is somewhat valuable. When it glows, that is when it is warning you of another curse incoming.

...It glows? That's convenient. At least we have a personal warning system for this kind of thing.

But I'd love to get a closer look at the ink's molecular structure to find out what makes it so persistent to remain. I may just have to do that, once I get out of the woods anyway.

I would suggest finding a temporary hive for you to stay in- I apologize, a housing situation of some sort. A hotel should suit your needs until you can discuss with the residents an... apartment, or building for you to live in.

If we are all trapped here under the control of unreliable individuals, then I see no reason to be uncooperative. In times like this, we an be all we have to rely on.

I would like that. It will be curious to see what your universe considers the greatest scientific mind it has to offer.

Then hopefully I don't disappoint.

You're right we have to rely on each other in circumstances like this, though I'm still curios as to how we got here. Not just anything can move me without some considerable force.

Others have tried to kidnap me before. This is the first time its worked without some sort of fight.

I can assure you this is something we are all extremely interested in learning. I think the only thing which compares is how the curses occur.

We have done our best to gather information, but it is rather difficult. Together, our total gathered information is rather small.

...Just how long has this been going on.

I believe the longest inhabitant who has managed to not be returned back to their homeworld will soon be, if not already, have been here for an entire solar sweep- three of your human years.

Three years. Well, its not the longest imprisonment I've heard of or experienced.

But in all that time barely anyone's managed to learn just what's going on? This mystery might be more interesting then I initially thought.

Well, it's a bit harder when at any moment, one may suddenly be shoved back home with no memory of this place. No warning, of course.

It's only in the last year which we have realized we had access to the island, where it was discovered that this whole thing was one experiment. Before, it was thought that the coral Lamufao brought us here to keep up the barrier.

Well now, that does put things into a whole different light. What do people know about the barrier or the purpose of this little experiment?

Very little about the barrier, but we have been slowly gathering more information on the purpose of the experiment.
