Video: Public Service Princess

It seems as if the arrival cycle is over now. Allow me to extend a belated welcome to everyone who was pulled into Vatheon this past cycle. My name is Zelda, and I work with the Welcoming Committee here. Please drop by if you have any questions about our current situation as foreigners in the city. I would also like to encourage new arrivals that are capable of fighting to look into joining the Defense Force. While things are generally peaceful here, there are some dangerous situations from time to time. Well, if you say so...I just hope that it really doesn't!

[She doesn't want to be cursed like this! However, she was going to continue before Zelda mentioned something else]

Ah...I never had Chai before but...okay?

[She mumbled before she finished cutting the rest of her cookies.

Just you wait, Bianca will find a way to get back to Guy!]

[Don't worry Bianca, Zelda won't let the cookies burn. The princess focuses on starting a pot of tea, mind still drifting to what to get Guy for Valentine's Day. Honestly, more than anything else she'd like to just be able to give him a hug as herself, but that's basically impossible...

...or is it? If she temporarily spelled away her sexual characteristics, he would be fine, wouldn't he? She was able to complete a full transformation into a male, a halfway state should be possible too. Something that was still her and not Sheik. If she starts work on it now, it should be done in time.

She seems to have perked right back up, because now Zelda's humming as she works.]

[Of course, Bianca was a little curious about how his relationship with Zelda would work. After that incident where she was stuck on him, she knew that he was scared of women. Or rather, he was scared of touching them. It could still work but she wondered about simple things like holding hands or giving a simple hug.

A part of her wanted to ask that but she won't. It was something between the both of them, she had no right to pry into that.

However, she was glad to see her friend in a cheery mood]

Hm? It seems like you're humming, Zelda! And here I thought you don't know any bakking songs!

You said that any song would work, did you not? This is one I have learned since coming to Vatheon.

[Sweet Home Alabama. She learned it from Signless. Vatheon is definitely a melting pot! Zelda unfortunately does not know the lyrics, only the melody.]

The melody sounds familiar but...I'll just hum along with you!

[And with that, Bianca starts humming before looking at the oven. Man, now she's wondering how much longer she has to wait]

By the way, where did you learn it from?

From Signless! If there are any words to it, I'm afraid I don't know them. I was teaching him a song on his guitar and he played this one on my harp.

[It's a catchy little tune, easy to remember. Not quite as catchy as some of the songs she's learned from the videos that Shizuo left behind, but fun nonetheless.]

Signless? I don't think I ever heard of a person named that before but that is an interesting name though! What does he look like?

[Hm, she pondered to herself a bit. Signless, Signless, Signless....]

What kind of song were you teaching him? [Hey wait!] Oh, maybe I can learn it too? Can I? Plleeaasseee?

[Since she's still making the tea Zelda doesn't take out her harp to play along, but she begins singing the Ballad of the Goddess. As she doesn't know the meaning of the words properly herself, it remains in the foreign language instead of being translated. There's something very ancient and powerful about the song.]

[As Zelda began to sing, Bianca could only simply stare at the blond woman. She was right, she doesn't understand the lyrics but it doesn't mean that the melody didn't get the point across.

She never heard anything quite like it before and there was something oddly relaxing about it. Instead, the girl just simply closed her eyes and hummed quietly along side Zelda]

That's really pretty...I didn't know you can sing this well! Haha, I'm envious!

Thank you. Music runs in my family, I have been trained in it for as long as I can remember.

[So many secrets of the royal family are actually songs, and music is something the Hylian people as a whole seem to enjoy more than their human counterparts. She's not certain if that comes from Hylia or if the goddesses of the Triforce had something to do with it.]

Ahhh...it must be so nice for it to run in the family! It's like a legacy! You pass it down from one generation to another. I think I can only bake the special pie my mom makes...once I learn how to bake it!

[Bianca isn't too about the meaning behind her singing but it's clear that it means a lot to her. In a way, she was a little envious to have something so close to her family but at least they don't know how to bake awesome pies like her mom!]

Do you have the recipe, or will you try to make it from memory?

[Kettle set now, the princess moves to transfer the cookies to the oven and sets the timer accordingly. Hopefully they wouldn't burn!]

Uh...

I suppose I'll try to make it from memory! What's the fun if we have the recipe in front of you anyway?

You could try starting with some basic apple pie recipes from the library as a base. Once you get used to the general ingredients and how they taste, it will be easier to figure out what your mother used in her pie.

Hm...I could do that but...

you mean right now? What about the cookies? [And she looks back at the other stuff]

Or...do we even have enough ingredients for it?

Not right now, silly! The cookies will be done any moment.

[And there's the timer! Zelda puts on oven mits and takes them out.]

One thing many people forget is to put their cookies on a cooling rack. The tray is hot, so if you do not remove them quickly the bottom of the cookie may burn.

[Spatula in hand, the princess sets out to save the cookies from that grisly fate.]

Annnddd there it is! It's done!

[But the fact that Zelda called her silly makes her smile a bit. It looks like she was starting to relax a bit and was having fun!]

Oooohhh, that's probably why my cookies are always burnt! [giggle] I always tried to make it by the book but something just turns out wrong! So thanks for the advice, I'll be sure to pay attention the next time around!

I'm sure you'll do splendidly. Now then, what did you bring to decorate them with? We can take a look while they cool.

[She's not entirely sure what they have to work with other than "frosting" and "lots of sprinkles", but it should be sufficient.]

Um, let's see... [She began looking around the kitchen for some of the brings she brought]

I wasn't sure what kind of frosting goes well with gingerbread cookies so I bought 3 different kinds! There's cream cheese, chocolate frosting, and buttercream!

...I just realized. There's a lot of different kinds of frosting isn't there? Haha, I thought baking was hard enough but now we need to get the right kind of frosting too to match!

Baking is difficult!

[Oh... Zelda actually didn't think of that either!]

I think that buttercream or cream cheese would be the best. Chocolate has a somewhat overpowering taste. We should be able to get the smoothest appearance with buttercream, so let's use that.

[Process of elimination makes it simple! Zelda looks far too serious while she's talking it out with herself, though. Anyone watching them would probably get a laugh.]

[Uh...Zelda, you're taking this frosting thing a bit too seriously...]

Um...okay then? [blink blink.] Would it taste better if we use that instead of chocolate or cream cheese?

I believe so. We can try a couple with cream cheese as well. We can do a taste test on one now before they cool? It won't hurt anything, it's just difficult to get a proper spread while the cookies are still warm.

[As far as taste goes though, she prefers them fresh out of the oven.]

We can! Since it's still hot, we can quickly have the frosting melt and it might taste nicer! Using one cookie for a frosting would never hurt anyone!

[Now she really wants to eat one! So don't mind Bianca quickly using one of the knives to spread it around a bit!]

Well, we will need at least two to test it properly.

[Zelda looks amused as she gets two cookies so they can put the buttercream on one and the cream cheese on the other, breaking both neatly in half for a proper taste test.]

Hmm... I do think I prefer the buttercream.

[As Bianca started munching on the both of them, she didn't really care whichever one was better. She was just happy that the cookies weren't burnt!]

I'm good with which ever one you want! I think they both taste really good, I'm just happy they turned out just fine!

[Good thing she's not really picky about food. ...Maybe except any foods that are too spicy. Her poor tongue!]
