5 ♐ Video ♐ Serious McSeriousface
[Well, that certainly is Darkleer appearing on the screen today. You would think him of all people would want to avoid showing up on the network with the thought bubbles running about. His is even right behind him, floating serenely. It's not shaped like some others may be. In fact, it's square, relatively flat, and almost seems like a window of some sort. Huh.]
[It soon becomes obvious that he's not worried because the thought window is certainly a busy little bee. Even as he pulls away from the SFC he's placed on his workbench, it's already flashing with images, all crowded against one another. Wires, motors, gears and pistons and mathematical equations of all sorts. They're stringed and pulled together, solving more than just one invention, more than one idea that he is mulling over and trying to piece together in his mind. Schematics. It's all schematics.]
[Settling himself, Darkleer adjusts his shades- still the same cheap ones he's been wearing since he gave the Psiioniic his original pair- and begins to quietly speak.]
I normally do not indulge in video, but something seems that for some reason, the buttons on my communicator have yet to work. It is going to take a while to fix them properly, so I decided that I would simply make a post now.
[In one corner of the thought window, another schematic is being made, the lines in blue. It looks like a large bird of some kind, but it disappears from view quick enough.]
The last time I contacted the network, it was to discuss a way of learning more about this place. In one of the conversations I had, we discussed about the invasions Vatheon is occasionally prone to. It was agreed that multiple safehouses set across the bubble.
[If one is looking closely, behind all the ideas and inventions and schematics that is in Darkleer's mind, they could possibly see a map of Vatheon.]
When I say 'multiple' safehouses, I do not mean every second building, nor do I mean a fortified fortress. But it would be ill advised to have merely one safehouse. What if someone is on an entirely different level of the city, after all?
I would like input on this idea.
[Encrypted to the Vatheon Defense Force]
After recent events that have been occurring, particularly to individuals that I know, I would like to offer some assistance. While normally the residents of this city are more or less... peaceful, I have noticed an increase, however brief, in dangerous individuals coming to the city. Their targets are not always able to use their communication device to contact help.
I'd like to discuss a solution I have in mind. Preferably with those in charge, but I believe the rest of you should have your own say as well.
[Two new images in the thought window: one dissecting an intricate mechanical bug and another of, strangely enough, a bow and arrow.]
[Encrypted to Dualscar.]
[Darkleer pause for a moment, a bit awkward before clearing his throat.]
If you are not busy with other matters, sir, I believe we should speak. Preferably in person.
[The image of the mechanical bug from before is made a bit more obvious amongst everything else, the wings color-coded, strangely enough, in orange as more details are put into them, constantly being rearranged and configured to Darkleer's liking.]

[Reaching off screen, he pulls his hand back with a small insect in his hands. It's obviously a more complete copy than what his thought window was showing and he holds it close to the camera screen.]
What this model would do is attach itself to an individual. Its presence would be more or less unnoticeable and of no bother. It is not a spying device. It cannot transmit any images or sounds. It has a relatively primitive intelligence that allows it to judge the safety of others.
The plan that I would have in mind is for your defense force to have a receiver that connects to these. Whenever the machine identifies a dangerous situation- its charge being under attack, or an incident that severely injures them- it sends out a signal to the receiver that lists its coordinates. This signal only appears when it sounds it out, so, once more, there is no fear of them being spied on.
[Except by Darkleer but sssssh.]
Of course, I know that many here like to spar in their spare time, and I am working on allowing instances of this so that the machine does not send out any unneeded signals.
[filtered to Defense Force]
And would these be put on every individual?
[filtered to Defense Force]
Only those who would accept it. It would be for the better if everyone had one, yes, but I've learned that forcing such things on individuals can lead to unfortunate consequences.
[filtered to Defense Force]
I don't see anything wrong with it if it's voluntary.

[Darkleer nods his head slightly and respectfully.]
Thank you for your time.
[filtered to Defense Force]
I'm not at all certain that I'm comfortable with such an idea.
[filtered to Defense Force]
[A slight shrug. Darkleer didn't expect to win everyone's approval.]
May I ask why?
[filtered to Defense Force]
[But mostly it's the distrust of technology.]
[filtered to Defense Force]
As for my motivations, well... [Darkleer clasps his hands together on the workbench surface.] As I said. Individuals from my homeworld have found themselves attacked, recently. One, a young boy, was killed by an unstable young woman from elsewhere. Another was a much older adult, a nobleman by our standards, and he was killed by another of our kind.
Those events were what spurred this idea of mine.
[filtered to Defense Force]
[Ky's bubble shows a battlefield littered with both human bodies and mechanical parts.]
I've seen a lot that haven't.
While I regret what seems to have happened, perhaps there is another solution that might actually do more good.
[filtered to Defense Force]
Then our experiences differ.
If you have an alternate suggestion, then I would be willing to hear it.
[filtered to Defense Force]
[filtered to Defense Force]
Are you familiar with the concept of a fire alarm, sir? This will be a metaphor and is not simply something out of the blue, I assure you.
[filtered to Defense Force]
I am.
[filtered to Defense Force]
Imagine a group of dwellings. Unexpectedly, a fire breaks out in one hive- house, I apologize- and kills the inhabitants. Rebuild the home, new inhabitants- and now the question.
The house clearly had no fire alarm before, and neither do any of the others. But, so far, only one of them has caught fire. Using what appears to be your logic, unless I've misunderstood, we should only put a fire alarm in the house that previously experienced difficulties because it's been the only one to do so.
But why not do so for the other houses? Are they not under the same kind of danger, as few can predict what the future holds?

He's not the kind of guy to suspect ill intentions from someone offering their help, though.]
I was informed of mind alteration being performed on foreigners in the past. Would it be possible for your machine to also detect when its charge is attacking another?

How long will it take to produce one of these machines, including modifying its programming to allow for sparring?
voice | filtered to Defense Force
Sometime near the end of the month, if I stay focused and nothing further occurs.

In regards to your unfiltered message, multiple safehouses is a good idea. People are free to use my base near the forest as one.
Will you have time to create a list of those who have volunteered safehouses and their locations? If not, the Defense Force can gather the information for a safehouse map.
[filtered to Defense Force] oh hi late to the party
Oh. Hello, Darkleer-san.
I appreciate you trying to help out.
