Accidental Video

*There's a blur on the screen as it seems the SFC is moved from one pair of hands to another. When the image finally settles, it is tilted at an angle. Most of the image appears to be a boring bedside table with a jug of water on, and the frame of a boring bed, similar to what might be seen in a hospital. A smaller section of the screen shows half of someone's pale face, the eyes covered with bandages. The only thing that might identify this person are some flicks of brown hair, sitting above a shoulder in a hospital gown. The SFC is moved again, showing this unhappy figure in a bed, before the feed flickers out*

You're not that much of a mess. [Could she hear that smile he had? Aya takes the cue to sit next to her and place an arm about Selphie, mindful of her bandages.]

I'm not sure where to start, either. [He's silent for a moment before speaking again.] When di they say you would be released?

*Yes, she could hear it and she was glad of it, managing a shaky smile. She moves her good arm around him, pleased that her one tear has soaked into the bandage*

I think..I can go when I want. So long as I come back to get my bandages changed... I just didn't know what to do last night - who to call...or how...

Do you think they would let someone else change them for you? [Going back and forth to the hospital just for changing bandages seemed silly.]

[Meanwhile, he shifts closer, so she wouldn't have to strain as she sits up.]

[booyaka_boom]

Maybe they would. I'd have to ask the nurse... *She sighs - this is just the start of things to come, not being able to do things for herself. She moves the good arm up around his neck, the bandaged arm at her side, almost resting against him as he moves closer*

[Aya returns the hug, a bit awkwardly if only he's avoiding her injuries.]

I'm glad you're alright, mostly.

[booyaka_boom]

*Her smile becomes that little bit more certain and she nods gently, biting her lip*

Well, that's only because you're here.

[formerabyssinian]

[Aya chuckles before pulling back.]

I can't agree to that.

[booyaka_boom]

*Selphie lets her arms drop and sinks back into her pillows slightly*

...why not?

[formerabyssinian]

Mostly because I'm not a doctor. [He adjusts the pillow for her.]

[booyaka_boom]

*And, for the first time in what feels like a long time, Selphie starts to laugh. If she could see, she would probably have pulled him down onto the bed in a hug, so relieved was she to be laughing. As it is, she just stretches out a hand to meet with his knee*

Aya, you can be so funny sometimes, you know that?

[formerabyssinian]

[He's glad Selphie is laughing. Hospital stays aren't always so cheerful in his experience. The hand on his knee isn't a problem.]

Most people tell me I'm not, so no, I didn't know that.

[booyaka_boom]

Well, they kinda have a point, but you can be really funny when you wanna be.

*She smiles, head turned in his vague direction, hoping that he knew she was teasing since she can't tell from his expression*

[Now he wonders if any other members of his group are here. Did they tell her something he should be aware of.]

I'm curious if you've ever talked with Ken before.

[booyaka_boom]

*Selphie tilts her head, frowning slightly and again wishing she knew what kind of expression he had*

Ken? You mean...Kenshin?

[formerabyssinian]

No, not Kenshin-dono. A friend of mine. His name is just Ken.

[booyaka_boom]

Oh! No...I don't know him. Why, is something wrong?

*Argh, she can't see his face and is just sensing something..weird*

[formerabyssinian]

No, nothing's wrong. [Maybe Ken didn't say anything. Aya shrugs to himself mostly before looking to Selphie.]

Did a doctor come by yet?

[booyaka_boom]

*Well, it's not like Selphie can see your shrugs anymore, Aya. But, learning to understand tones of voice is going to be tricky. She shakes her head*

There was a nurse here just before you called. There's a button somewhere I can press if you wanna talk to her...

*Selphie starts hiding up and down the side of the bed trying to find it, still not aware that he'd seen any kind of accidental video*

Only if you're up to going home today. [He really doesn't want to leave her in the hospital longer than she has to.]

[booyaka_boom]

*Her fingers hover over the button and she grabs her blanket in one hand again, suddenly worried about the prospect of leaving*

Will you take me...?

*If he says yes, then she'll press the button to call the nurse through*

Why would you think I wouldn't? [There's a lot of conviction in his voice.] I said you're not going to go through this alone, and I meant it.

[booyaka_boom]

*Selphie again lowers her head, blushing slightly and nodding. Soon the nurse comes bustling, looking between Aya and Selphie - asking if everything's okay, if she needs anything*

Uhm...can he take me home now, please? And maybe, can we take some stuff to do the dressings?

*The nurse then goes about putting various bandages and painkillers into a bag, and fetches out Selphie's yellow dress - intact, but bloodied and burnt. Aya's advised to step outside the curtain so that the nurse can redress Selphie*

[Right...Aya stands from his spot, letting the nurse do whatever needed to be done in order for Selphie to get home. Waiting outside, he keeps an ear open for when it's safe to enter. The state of Selphie's dress raises another concern. If she has injuries to her arm, did she bleed out that much that the blood traveled so low? It doesn't match up...]

[booyaka_boom]

*Selphie finally shuffles out on the arm of the nurse, the fully extent of her injuries obvious now in her dress - her right arm and right leg are both completely wrapped up to heal the burns, her right boot tattered, as it had to be cut open. When they reach Aya, the nurse offers over Selphie and the bag of medical stuff*

[When Aya turns around and takes in all of her injuries, he curses to himself. Just an accident? Just who the hell did this..]

[He takes the medical supply bag from the nurse and takes Selphie's hand, helping her to loop her arm through his.]

I didn't know it was this bad.
