[Call it guilt, call it a bunch of different factors, the Lombax holds a small kitten in one arm, sitting by a bed occupied by one(1) Jade Curtiss. The small creature mews incessantly, digging its tiny claws into the General's arm, trying to crawl up further. They were safe on the island above, for the time being. But... they shouldn't have to be up here at all.

Especially with the Colonel like this.

And yet the situation wasn't yet resolved.

So he grabs the SFC with his free hand, ears bent back and a snarl from a fanged mouth, the General far from pleased with how things were progressing.]

Let it be known that a good man's efforts fell for naught in this blasted city. If the rest of you have any other bright ideas, I'd sure love to hear them.

he looks down at the sfc in his hand for a few moments before lowering it, knowing that it's recording... he's standing near the coral, in the meantime -- )

People just come and go at the drop of a hat, don't they. Both the stupid ones and comrades alike, it doesn't matter. And it's not like they have any say in it either, it's like we're all just waiting for our damn turns to take a stab at the odds of leaving.

( his grip tightens around the communicator, which you can actually hear... )

So, tell me. How many of you have had your comrades come and go, then come and go again? Personally I'm getting pretty sick of it. What's the point in showing up again if you're just going to leave. Just leave them where they are so we don't have to deal with it in the first place, I say.

[when the SFC turns on, there’s actually two people visible. One is Shiro, and he looks less than pleased. He has removed his coat at some point, and now Rin is wearing it. Rin certainly looks worse for wear. Whatever happened has left him with a mostly-bandaged arm, and several spots of skin that aren’t covered by the jacket are red and faintly blistered. He doesn’t look terribly happy either but he’s not frowning nearly as much as Shiro.

They're also up on the island, sitting on the beach.]

Good afternoon. We, ah, felt it was important to let you all know something-

[Rin cuts in before Shiro can fully get to his explanation]

Dad broke the ocean.

[Shiro sputters at that and is quick to protest.]

I did not break the ocean!

Yeah, okay, we both broke it. Well. I mean-- I dared Dad to bless the ocean and it kinda worked better than we were expectin’.

That doesn’t mean it's broken, it’s just a little holier than it was yesterday.

[Whoops they were supposed to be talking to the SFC, not each other. So Shiro turns his attention back to that.]

We just wanted to warn any residents who might be affected by holy water, you probably won’t want to go swimming for a day or two.

For those of you who knew her, Cheria Barnes has returned home. Pascal and I are the only ones left from our world now...

[There's a good, lengthy pause as Hubert debates on saying more, but whatever he's thinking just happens to be a pile of negative things and upset-driven notions that he feels like he shouldn't bother sharing.]

If anyone has a burning need to bother me I'll be at work at my usual post.

Residents of Vatheon, if I could have your attention for a moment please.

While I was up at the island today during the kite flying event, a companion and myself stumbled across a disturbing sight. I'll try to spare gory details and disgusting images, but what I'm about to say is not for the weak of stomach regardless, so I apologize in advance for it.

It appears as if some one has killed and taken apart a deer, and left it strung up in one of the trees.

This event likely happened several days ago from the condition the remains were in.

[Hubert pauses her, and pushes his glasses up.]

Now, even as a member of the Defense Force, this is not something I can really do anything about since the deed is done and the action wasn't taken against a resident, but I do encourage anyone who comes across anything else strange like this to at least report it to some one on the Defense Force. I hope we can prevent any more... startling discoveries such as this one in the future.

I was taking a guess, but I don't suppose we can do anything to people who kill animals on the island, can we? Or at least to people who leave such a mess for innocent passerby to stumble upon.

What the hell is this about? Someone just left this here? ( he holds up one of those heart-things that seem to have been delivered lately ) Like anyone would be stupid enough to go to them for help, like they say in that stupid note.

[Sera's never experienced snow before, so she had to have a look. But almost as soon as she left, she returned. Having the Atma that she does gives her resilience to the cold, but it's still unpleasant to be in the snow with the way the weather is right now. Her face is a deep pink from the cold, and she sniffles between lines.]

The weather's starting to get scary. The wind is cold and sharp, and it makes my face red.

[And that's just the wind.]

It's strange that something beautiful can make you feel miserable.

[Her clothes clinging to her, the green-haired and green-eyed woman peers at the screen. If one takes the time to notice, the fairly minimal amount of clothing she wears looks very much like the style of the Embryon's clothing.]

I appreciate the information within the brochure. However, I do not understand. What is the purpose of recording your location for all who wish to see?

[Her body feels different. Weaker. Although it doesn't show much in her voice, this change is bothering her. It isn't even just her body. The brochure explains many things, but not the important things. What is she here for? Was this what happened to those who rose to the heavens? No, that was impossible. 'Oceans' were deep. This was more like sinking. Did death affect those who had gained the power differently to those who had not?

Apart from that, however, she seems entirely unperturbed by the soaking wet state of her body, the marking, or the fact that her hair was plastered to her left eye by the dampness.]

I will ask only once. Is the direction to this 'residency list' a trap?

[With how empty the Volo Dorms have become, Yukari has been keeping more and more to herself, though she knows that can't really last forever. She's been finding less and less reasons to go out, even with the culprit behind the kidnap/murders apprehended.

And today . . . isn't really all that different.

It should be. It could be, even-- it's still pretty early in the day, and it's hard to tell how things will go. But she doesn't feel different at all.

( the feed seems to turn on as the sfc falls to the floor, bouncing off again before finally resting flat. there's an akward view from below of a redhead, who seems to be lifting a local up off the ground from his collar. but... there's something different about heat this time. quite different, actually... in place of his firey hair -- red-tipped spines can now be found. in fact, those spikes seem to be sprouting not just from his head, but also what you can see of his back, down to this thighs. he has been porcupine'd...

but that's the least of his problems right now. in fact, you have to wonder if he's even actually noticed yet... )

[There's a chocobo on the screen, once he managed to accidentally get his SFC working. Nudging it a few times, he takes a step back, bouncing in the air and flapping his wings.]

[Bored with that, he manages to hang onto the SFC with his mouth. The view is hard to follow, but it looks like he's ramming himself into a door to try and leave the apartment. Tidus' door to be more precise.]

[ A man can be seen kneeling in the plaza, his clothes rumpled as though he had just been running. His expression is both pained and saddened, but he keeps his voice calm.

He needs to say this.]

Some of you may recognize me as Doctor Riffael Raffit. I am Riff Raffit, but...the man known as Riffael is the one who has been terrorizing people for a month.

Eleventh promise; accidental video

[Something - a body part similar to an elbow or a knee or something to that effect - hits the SFC, turning it on. All it shows at first is part of the wall in an alleyway and some clutter on the ground. Silence lingers for a moment, before there's a small moan. There's some scuffling, knees scraping against the ground, before a hand, then two come into view.]

...Where...

[The voice is quiet, but it's definitely Rinoa's. With considerable effort, she crawls over to the wall, unknowingly in most of the camera's view. She curls up into a ball against the wall.]

Don't... don't come back. No more needles, please.

[Who she's talking to, if anyone, is unclear. When her head lifts up, her one eye looks dazed and unfocused. The other would, too, except it's too swollen to tell. Her work uniform is tattered and basically destroyed. Most of the damage is on her back, which is blocked from view for now. But some of the blood made its way to the front and on her skirt.

Frightened, she looks around, as if waiting for someone to come back, someone she does not want to see.]

Don't come back. I don't want him to come back.

[She curls up tighter, burying her head in her knees.]

I'm scared...

[Untouched for awhile now, the SFC eventually shuts off, with Rinoa still totally unaware it was on.]

Another person has gone missing.

Her name is Rinoa Heartilly. She's seventeen years old, about five feet and four inches tall. She has black hair with brown highlights, and she normally wears a blue duster.

We need to start looking for her immediately. She usually spends her time around the lower district and in the areas around the plaza. Start there and spread out.

[When the feed flicks on, Serph's standing outside the base, one of the orange rose bushes in the background. His expression is serious. This isn't the first time a curse has resulted in someone else with an Atma. This keeps happening... these things that are out of his control. These things that compromise the secrecy of their hunger. But he'd said to the Tribe that he'd speak to the entirety of the bubble of their hunger some day. It's unfortunate that he won't have the support of Signless for this, but now is as good a time as any.]

Serph is nowhere to be found. People don't just disappear, ( can you tell its his first time losing someone, vatheon? ) and it's impossible to get answers out of these "locals" or whatever the hell you want to call them! And he wouldn't just die that easily, even he's better than that.

Just because he isn't around though, don't think that means we're defenseless. I'll be taking over as leader in the meantime, so if anyone has any business with the Embryon, you take it up with me. ( look at how he jabs himself in the chest. that means he's serious... )
