S-So ... Valentine's Day.

This is my first time celebrating the holiday, and I do happen to have someone special in my life.

[ oh god, she is blushing. ]

What kind of things would you do to celebrate? I keep trying to come up with something, but it all seems so cheesy, and ... well, while it would fit for Shing, considering how cheesy he is--

J-Just!

[ oh, man, blushing forever. and trying to find her words. what are words. ]

I think- ... I need to get some suggestions, just so I can figure out something really nice to do for him. I know, we've still got a few weeks, but the days go by pretty quickly ...

[The video feed cuts on. Jack is as always sitting in front of that blasted piano of his, it's like he never gets away from it! But this is different than most of the other times he sit's in front of the thing. He isn't even playing it.

He just wants to talk. It's hard to determine whether he's actually upset or not.]

I hardly remember this time last year. I just know it will be Valentine's day without Alice around. I don't mean to sound bitter if I do.

But I must know, what do people do on Valentine's day other than spend it with someone they love? I was told it was called "being single". I'm not really sure...

Are you still around? It just dawned on me that we never went for lunch. I feel like an awful friend.

[Sam is sitting crosslegged on the floor, bouncing a rubber ball against the wall of her apartment and holding the SFC with the other.]

So - we've had a lot of new arrivals lately, which is cool -- or not cool, I guess, depending on how you look at it -- and I was kind of wondering if there's any set schedule or whatever when it comes to people coming back. That happens, right? Sometimes people show back up with their memories of this dumb place?

[A pause. It's not like she misses anyone or anything! >| Finally, the goth girl waves at the camera, ball in hand.]

And hey there, six billion new people! I'm Sam.

[Some pirate had the bright idea to really test their body. Well more specifically, their liver. The feed would show emptied bottles around the SFC as well as what appeared to be a stuffed toy of a sea dragon. The owner making a mess of himself settled in to view of the SFC. ]

The buttons all look the same. [A dismissive wave.] Ay, Demyx. I might be getting inked in a bit. Ya can tag along if ya feel up to it mate. Unless needles scare ya. [A grin.]

And for the lot of ya here in the bubble... [A salute before he ended the feed.]

[The video flicks on, and Ken is on-screen, leaning against his spear. He's got a question, and so he might as well ask it.]

So I've been wondering. I know a lot of us are good with weapons, but it might be a good idea to get better with more than one. I've been using a spear for a while, so if anyone wants to get training in that or a staff, I can train you.

Maybe we can even set up a list of teachers so whoever wants to learn a weapon can look for them all in one place. What do you think?

[Hello Vatheon, guess it's time for more folks to start showing up on the network. This one's an anthromorphic fox, one who's dressed in ... well. an outfit, one that she still had at the end of her adventure. WELP.

And she's wet. and gross. and this outfit is terrible to be in right now and bleh.

She seems just a tad bit distressed looking, but mostly just worried when she comes on the feed. She's really way too close to it, by the way, trying to see if she can get the hang of it before she actually tries to address the network.] --- this is such cute technolog--- [Oh there we go. She pulls her snout of the feed and tries to keep herself as calm as she can.]

Ahh, hello there. I suppose I should start this off with a quick message. Members of Star Fox! If there's anyone here who answers to our team, I would appreciate a reply back as soon as possible.   [Her ears twitch lightly, and she glances around, as if she could try to find someone that way. That obviously isn't the right way to do it. Whoops.]

Along with that, I suppose I wouldn't mind having a few questions answered. One in particular being where I am exactly. This strange place is... admittingly very appealing to the eyes, but it's certainly where I'm not suppose to be right at the moment. Is there also any way to return to my original place? Any answers at all would be appreciated.

[The feed turns on, revealing a rather irritated and extremely wet Dr. Eggman. Clearly, he was not happy about this situation. Having finally beaten (he thinks) his long time rival only to be brought to god knows where is not on his to-do list. At all.]

Alright. First and foremost, I would like an explanation of where I am. Second, I would like the name of the person or people who brought me here so I can send them the bill for my wrecked vehicle. Those parts are expensive, you know!

[And he gestures to the Eggmobile behind him, looking soaked and...wow, actually sparking. Amazing he didn't get fried in that thing.]

Being selfless is not an easy thing.

[Hello, Vatheon. Once again, your resident not-god of a spiritual being, Jacob, is here to illuminate your lives with philosophical pondering and introspection to boot.]

[Don't mind him, it's just what he does on a regular basis.]

In fact, no one is completely selfless. Everyone has the need and desire to take care of themselves before anyone else. It's a natural thing. But even so, it's amazing that people can put aside their own wants and needs to help others around them. It goes against the grain, so to speak.

Sometimes...somebody is so selfless that they put their life in harm's way in order to protect others. For in those moments that mean life and death, they put aside the thought of danger and charge into it willingly. All because they realize that their life was, at that moment, not the thing that mattered most.

[A pause as he glances at the camera with those wide blue eyes of his which are as unchanging as the horizon of a calm sea.]

Sacrifice is a powerful thing, indeed. For sacrifice can impact people so deeply that they can experience an entire turn-around in their character. Because, I think, sacrifice makes us all realize that we are all miniscule specks in the cloak of the universe. We are not as important by ourselves as we think. And therefore, selflessness comes into play- we do things for a higher goal. A higher purpose. We hope that one day, our actions can influence things as large as an entire nation or an entire world.

[He lets the words sink in for a bit, and then:]

So, people of Vatheon. What do you see selflessness as? Is it a means to an end, or are we all just specks that can barely put a ripple in the fabric of the universe we live in?
